GERTRUDE - MENSTRUAL HEALTH PROGRAM

Drawing from our aspirations for being a better place for women and girls in our communities, The Gertrude Memorial Community Relief through her friends and partners made consultations, thorough research and soliciting for support mainly for restructuring the pads workshop, sewing machines and materials and a motorbike to ease movements, We decided to promote this program because of 2 simple reasons;-

1. To educate, empower and uplift every woman / girl's health since menstrual hygiene is a human right.

2. Menstruation is a natural process and not a gender issue, We are therefore breaking the stigma so that our women and girls can have a pain free period by being clean and hygienic.

We intend to do this by making re-usable sanitary pads, then move to schools, communities and other social gatherings to create awareness, teach, demonstrate and equip these target groups with knowledge and kits.

Our much gratitude goes to the great friends who believe in the power of a woman / girl child because these are the true mothers of our Nation.

GERTRUDE - HOME VISITATION PROGRAM

Conducting home visits offers an unparalleled, valuable opportunity to understand patient needs and to increase their engagement and self efficiency in managing care transition.

This program helps recently discharged patients and also is a valuable strategy to improve care transition for these communities.

It also enables us as service providers to get a better understanding of the patient / community needs within the broader context of their lives and also helps foster intimacy, listen and receive feedback that you can not just achieve in the normal daily operations.

EDUCATION PROGRAM

Doing Health Education about Menstrual Hygiene, Adolescence and HIV to these young students at St. Francis of Assisi High School our partner project about students' healthcare.

This is a package given towards the end of their academic term to equip them while in holidays to be reminded of the future waiting for them to live a purposeful driven and fulfilling life.

The International Women's Day, we celebrate and remember with gratitude all great women that helped us continue our championship for Rural Women's Health Care.

Investing in Women's health is not merely a moral imperative but a strategic necessity of fostering equity, addressing health disparities, continuity of life and a powerful catalyst for sustainable development and all this creates a ripple effect that benefits families, communities and entire Nation.

We learn from history that; Women's health had always been seen through a narrow lens - primarily focused on reproductive capabilities but we must adopt a comprehensive approach that embodies a full spectrum of all their needs and priorities.
Gertrude Memorial Community Health Centre's continued zeal for service of Women and Children's healthcare with data; 60% & 30% respectively of the general turn up definitely comes with a huge magnitude of challenges but we are so determined to overcome them and grow into a Rural Specialized Women and Children's Hospital.

Our special gratitude to the Ministry of Health- Uganda our working partners Baylor College of Medicine Children's Foundation Uganda Mayanja Memorial Hospital Foundation, Catholic Relief Services and great women Katherine Cassidy Our female members of our Governing Board and all female staff at the gertrudevillage.org for immensely contributing to building this great dream.

NUTRITION HEALTH PROGRAM

We are much Grateful to our partners Farmer-to-Farmer and Catholic Relief Services for their continued efforts towards building healthier and self sustaining communities.

Today, in company of our Team Leader officials, the Volunteer - Dr. Usha, local leadership representative and Trainers of Trainees (ToTs), we unwrapped a new assignment called Kitchen Gardening.

How does relate to Healthcare?, this is definitely about food and Nutrition, what we feed on and most especially our breastfeeding babies and mothers, Pregnant mothers, the elderly and those whose immunity has been suppressed by different chronic illneses. Yes, of course with much thanks to USAID - US Agency for International Development for thinking much and prioritizing Nutrition Health among the key thematic health areas for aid mostly in Africa and Asia.

On the same occasion, we were privileged to award Certificates of Accomplishment to ToTs of the most recent assignment.
