Key facts on CCHF
It is a viral infection
Primarily transmitted to people from ticks and livestock like cattle, sheep, goats. These animals become infected by the bite of infected ticks and virus remains in their blood stream for about one week after infection then the cycle of transmission continue
Human acquire the CCHF virus either by tick bites or through contact with infected animal blood or tissues during and immediately after slaughter of infected animals. Note you can't identify an infected animal no signs and symptoms shown.
From one person to another it is through contact with body fluids from infected persons.
Incubation period depends on mode of acquisition of the virus but it is between 1 to 13 days for one to show signs and symptoms.

Presentation
Sudden fever, myalgia, dizziness, neck pain and stiffness, backache, headache, sore throat, sore eyes and photophobia, nausea and vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pain followed by confusion. Sleepiness, depression, hepatomegaly, lymphadenopathy, skin rash, tachycardia etc.

Reducing transmission to human
Wear long sleeved clothes
Wear white clothes to easily detect ticks on clothes
Spray of ticks with chemicals
Avoid going to places where ticks are.

There is no vaccine for CCHF to either people or animals.
