Risk refers to the likelihood and the severity of an injury or an illness occurring as a result of exposure to a hazard.

Reminder: Exposure to high levels of noise on a regular basis, or very high levels of noise over a short period, can cause permanent hearing loss or other damage to the ear such as tinnitus.

Both hearing loss and tinnitus are irreparable conditions.

Employers: Do you ensure that any new safety and health issues are identified early, and that they are addressed before they harm your workers and your business?

The sooner you take action, the less likely you are to have to deal with health and safety problems.

Does your employer encourage workers to use PPE without considering the introduction of prevention and control measures that could eliminate the requirement for personal protective equipment?
