Do pregnant mother's need Folic acid and iron??
The answer is yes they need it. Folic acid is important in the synthesis/making DNA. We know very well that we look the way we look because of DNA. If pregnant mother's have less than the required folic acid in their bodies, the growing fetus will not Make Organs or tissues completely thus producing babies with abnormalities. These abnormalities includes spina bifida( a***e or aprotrusion on the spine), hydrocephalus(abnormally big heads).

Ooh yes how is iron important? Mostly it is used in synthesis(making) of haemoglobin. Haemoglobin is acomponent of red blood cells that gives blood to have it's red colour. Red blood cells carry oxygen we breathe in to where it is needed within the body & we can't survive without oxgyen. Again red blood cells carry carbon dioxide to outside the body which is toxic to our bodies. Therefore if you have less/no iron in the body oxygen won't be transported to all parts of your body & even to the growing fetus leading to either death or delay in it's development.
