PEPTIC ULCERS
what is Peptic Ulcers?
These are sores that develop in the lining of the stomach ,small intestines.
They are usually formed as a result of inflammation .

Types of Peptic Ulcers
1. Gastric Ulcers: this develops inside the stomach .
2. Esophageal Ulcers, (
Inside esophagus)
3. Duodenal Ulcers , develop in the upper section of the small intestines called the duodenum

Causes of Peptic Ulcers

Helicobacter pylori ,this is the common cause of Peptic Ulcers and the type of bacteria that can cause stomach infection and inflammation.

Frequent use of Aspirin (ibuprofen) this occurs in 60s yrs and above and other antiinflammatory drugs.
Smoking
Sometimes stomach cancer
Drinking too much alcohol
Radiation therapy

The common symptoms of Peptic Ulcers

1. Burning abdominal pain
2. Changes in appetite
3. Bloody or dark stool
4. Unexplained weight loss
5. Indigestion
6. Vomiting
7. Chest pain

Peptic Ulcers can lead to such complications
1. Perforation ( a hole develops in the lining of the stomach
