Avery Smith, MD
Avery is originally from Midland, Texas. He graduated from Midland High School and obtained his undergraduate degrees at Midland College and the University of Texas of the Permian Basin. He completed his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in gastroenterology, hepatology and advanced endoscopy at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. Jana Stewart, FNP
Jana is originally from Petrolia, TX. She met her husband Taylor and moved to Haskell in 2018. She graduated from Petrolia High School in 2007 and obtained her Associate’s Degree in nursing from Vernon College. She then obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in nursing through Chamberlain College of Nursing in 2018. After that, she continued her education at Chamberlain College of Nursing and obtained her Master’s of Science in Nursing. She worked in PACU at United Regional in Wichita Falls as an RN for a couple years then transferred to PACU at Hendrick Health in Abilene where she worked as an RN for almost 5 years. She now works as a Nurse Practitioner for Digestive Health Consultants where she does hospital rounds and sees patients in the clinic. Shelby Smith, FNP
Shelby is originally from Coppell, Texas. She graduated from Coppell High School and obtained her undergraduate degree in nursing at Abilene Christian University. Following graduation, she worked in the intensive care unit at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. In addition to working as an intensive care nurse, she attended the University of Texas at Tyler and obtained a Family Nurse Practitioner Degree. She developed an understanding of gastroenterology as she practiced outpatient internal medicine before her arrival to Abilene. All of us at Digestive Health Consultants are excited to provide gastroenterology, hepatology, nutritional and endoscopy services to the Big Country. We currently provide clinical services at 1850 Hickory Street, suite 103. In addition, we provide outpatient endoscopy services at Hendrick Medical Center – North. We also assist the Hendrick Health System in providing emergent, inpatient services to the community.
