Central Iowa moms —

If you’re exhausted trying everything for your child’s ADHD, anxiety, or behavior… and nothing is actually fixing it, you’re not alone.

You’ve tried the routines.
The charts.
The advice.

And you’re still dealing with meltdowns, emotional swings, focus issues… and constant stress.

At some point, you have to ask:

Why isn’t this working?

Because this isn’t just behavior.

It’s how your child’s nervous system is functioning.

And if that’s not addressed — nothing else will stick.

That’s why we created the Mood Regulation Blueprint — a step-by-step process to actually understand what’s going on and help your child regulate and adapt.

If your child can’t seem to control their emotions… this might not be what you think.

The meltdowns.
The big reactions.
Going from 0 to 100 in seconds.

It’s easy to label it as behavior.

But many times… it’s actually a nervous system that’s overwhelmed.

When a child’s brain is stuck in stress mode, it becomes incredibly hard to regulate emotions, handle transitions, or stay calm under pressure.

That’s where we come in.

Through our Mood Regulation Blueprint, we focus on understanding how your child’s nervous system is functioning — not just managing the behaviors you see.

We start with detailed testing and scans to get real answers.
Then we create a personalized plan to help their system regulate and adapt more effectively.

Because when the nervous system begins to calm…
Emotions start to follow.

Fewer meltdowns.
Faster recovery.
More consistency.

And a child who feels more in control of their world.

Something special is happening in Adel and Ames. 💙

Families are getting answers.
Kids are finally starting to regulate.
And homes that once felt chaotic are becoming calm again.

Every day, we’re seeing kids who struggled with focus, emotions, sensory challenges, and sleep begin to function differently — not because we’re chasing symptoms…

But because we’re focusing on the nervous system.

Parents are feeling more confident.
Kids are feeling more in control.
And our communities are becoming healthier because of it.

This is why we do what we do.

Adel and Ames — we’re just getting started. 🚀

Sometimes the best days in the office have nothing to do with paperwork, schedules, or scans… and everything to do with a little unexpected joy. 🐐

Today we had a baby goat visitor, and it was safe to say it instantly became Miss Taylor’s favorite day ever.

There’s something special that happens when kids walk into a space that feels fun, relaxed, and a little bit magical. Laughter replaces nerves. Curiosity replaces fear. And suddenly the office feels less like a “doctor’s office” and more like a place where families can truly feel at home.

That’s always been our goal here.

Yes, we take nervous system health seriously.
Yes, we love diving into the science behind how kids regulate, focus, and grow.

But we also believe healing environments should feel light, welcoming, and full of life — sometimes even with a baby goat making the rounds.

Today was a good reminder that the little moments matter just as much as the big ones. 💛

And if you ask Miss Taylor… we may need more goat visits in the future.

If you’re looking for a place where your child can relax, play, and get support for their nervous system at the same time, we’d love to meet your family.

There’s something about this time of year…

When the snow is almost gone.
When the sun starts staying out just a little longer.
When you catch yourself daydreaming about warm evenings, kids playing outside, and windows open with fresh air moving through the house.

Soon it’ll be bike rides after dinner.
Barefoot backyard adventures.
Ice cream melting faster than the kids can eat it.

And honestly… those warmer months tend to be when parents start noticing something else too.

Kids sleeping better.
More time outside burning energy.
Fewer long winter days stuck inside with big emotions and cabin fever.

If this winter has felt long for your family — with mood swings, meltdowns, or sensory overwhelm — you’re not alone. A lot of families we meet say winter is when their child’s nervous system feels the most stressed.

The good news? The nervous system can change and adapt… and sometimes the support a child needs starts from the inside out.

At Specialized Health Chiropractic, we focus on helping kids regulate their nervous systems so they can handle daily stress, transitions, and emotions with more ease.

Warmer days are coming… and sometimes the right support can make them even better.

If you’ve been wondering whether your child’s nervous system might be under more stress than it should be, we’d love to talk.

Most parents don’t want medication to be the first answer.

But when your child is struggling with meltdowns, anxiety, focus problems, or emotional regulation… it can start to feel like the only option being offered.

And while medication may help some children, many parents worry about potential side effects like sleep problems, appetite changes, mood swings, or feeling like their child just isn’t themselves.

What if the real issue isn’t simply behavior — but nervous system stress?

When a child’s brain is constantly stuck in stress mode, regulating emotions, transitions, and focus can become incredibly difficult.

Our Calm Brain Blueprint helps parents understand how their child’s nervous system is functioning and what can be done to support better regulation.

Because when the nervous system adapts better to stress, many kids begin to experience calmer emotions, smoother transitions, and improved focus.

If you’d like to explore a different approach before jumping straight to medication, message us today to learn more. 💬

Mama, can we talk about what’s really at stake with mood regulation? 🤍

Not just the meltdowns.
Not just the hard afternoons.

The long game.

When a child’s nervous system struggles to regulate, it’s not just about today’s outburst over homework.

It can affect:

• Their confidence
• Their friendships
• Their willingness to try new things
• Their experience at school
• Their relationship with siblings
• The tone of your entire home

And if we zoom out even further…

Chronic stress patterns in the nervous system can shape how a child experiences the world.

If their system is constantly in “protect” mode, they may:

⚡ React faster than they can think
⚡ Internalize shame after big emotions
⚡ Start believing “I’m the bad kid”
⚡ Avoid situations that feel overwhelming
⚡ Develop anxiety as they get older

That’s the part no one talks about enough.

Mood regulation is about emotional safety.
It’s about resilience.
It’s about how your child builds identity.

At Specialized Health Chiropractic, we look at mood regulation neurologically.

Using CLA Insight scans, we measure:

✔️ How balanced their autonomic nervous system is (gas vs brake)
✔️ Whether stress patterns are locking them into fight-or-flight
✔️ Where tension along the spine may be interfering with brain-body communication

Because when the nervous system is calmer and more adaptable, we often see:

• Faster recovery from big feelings
• More flexibility
• Better focus
• Smoother transitions
• A child who feels more in control of their body

And what’s at stake then?

More peace in your home.
More confidence in your child.
More connection between you and them.

You don’t have to wait for them to “grow out of it.”

You can support their nervous system now — while their brain is still developing and adaptable.

Parents of kids with big emotional reactions know this moment.

You sit in the parking lot before going inside…
hoping today will go smoothly.

But part of you is already preparing for what might happen if your child becomes overwhelmed.

Many children who struggle with meltdowns aren’t trying to misbehave. Sometimes their nervous system is simply under more stress than it can regulate.

In our office we use a pediatric chiropractic process called the Calm Brain Blueprint to help us better understand how a child’s nervous system is functioning and how to support better regulation.

Okay mama… let’s get nerdy for a minute. 🤓🤍

If your child’s moods feel unpredictable… explosive… or completely exhausting…

I don’t want to start with behavior charts.

I want to start with the autonomic nervous system.

Your child has two primary settings running the show:

⚡ Sympathetic = gas pedal (fight/flight)
🌿 Parasympathetic = brake pedal (rest/digest/regulate)

Mood regulation is not about willpower.
It’s about how efficiently your child can shift between gas and brake.

When the nervous system is flexible, it looks like:
• Big feeling → pause → recovery
• Frustration → problem solving
• Disappointment → tears → calm

When the nervous system is stuck in gas pedal mode, it looks like:
• Overreaction
• Impulsivity
• Emotional flooding
• “Why are we melting down over the blue cup?!”

And here’s the deeper layer:

Chronic stress patterns (birth stress, developmental stress, emotional stress, the 3 T’s we talk about) can create neurological tension that keeps the body biased toward protection.

That protection bias lives in the brainstem and limbic system — the survival centers.

So when you’re asking for logic, flexibility, and self-control…
Your child’s nervous system may still be scanning for danger.

That’s not defiance.
That’s neurology.

This is why at Specialized Health Chiropractic we focus on:

✔️ Measuring nervous system stress with CLA Insight scans
✔️ Looking at heart rate variability (how well they shift from gas to brake)
✔️ Assessing spinal tension patterns that influence brain-body communication
✔️ Creating a specific plan to reduce neurological stress

Because when the brain feels safer, the prefrontal cortex (the rational, decision-making part) can actually come online.

And that’s when moms tell us:

“He can pause now.”
“She recovers faster.”
“Mornings aren’t chaos anymore.”

You are not failing.
You are parenting a nervous system.

If you’re tired of walking on eggshells and ready to support your child at the root — let’s look at the data and build a plan.

Let’s talk about our CLA Insight Scans.

Because this is where hope becomes measurable. 🤍

At Specialized Health Chiropractic, we don’t guess.
We don’t base care on vibes.
We don’t chase behaviors.

We measure the nervous system.

Our CLA Insight technology allows us to objectively assess how your child’s nervous system is functioning — specifically how well it is adapting to stress.

Here’s what that actually means:

Your child’s brain and body are constantly communicating.
When that communication is clear and balanced, regulation is smoother.
When there’s interference or stress in the system, we often see it show up as:

• Mood swings
• Emotional outbursts
• Sensory overwhelm
• Difficulty focusing
• Sleep struggles
• Tension in the body

The scans help us see patterns in three major areas:

✔️ Heart Rate Variability (HRV) – This tells us how well the nervous system shifts between “gas” (fight/flight) and “brake” (rest/digest). Healthy variability = better adaptability.

✔️ Thermal Scans – These look at patterns along the spine that can indicate stress or imbalance in how the nervous system is regulating.

✔️ Surface EMG – This measures tension in the muscles along the spine, showing us where the body may be holding stress.

This isn’t subjective.
This isn’t “we think.”
It’s data.

And what’s powerful is this:
We don’t just scan once.

We rescan.

Parents get to SEE progress.
They get to watch patterns change.
They get to understand what’s happening underneath the surface — instead of wondering if anything is actually improving.

For so many moms, the scans are the first time someone has shown them:

“This is what your child’s nervous system is doing.”
“And here’s how we’re going to help.”

Clarity replaces confusion.
Data replaces doubt.
Hope replaces helplessness.

If you’ve been told your child will “grow out of it,” but your gut says there’s more to the story — a nervous system scan can give you real answers.

“They’ll grow out of it.”

That’s what you were told.

But what if they don’t?

What if the symptoms don’t disappear…
they just change?

Tantrums turn into anxiety.
Hyperactivity turns into focus struggles.
Mood swings turn into shutdown.
Big emotions turn into self-doubt.

Kids don’t grow out of nervous system stress.
They adapt to it.

And adaptation often looks like new labels… new struggles… new frustrations.

Inside our Regulated Brain Blueprint, we look beneath the behavior to see how your child’s nervous system is actually handling stress.

Through detailed consultation, advanced scans, and a personalized care plan, we focus on helping their system regulate — so transitions get smoother, emotions stabilize faster, and daily life feels more manageable.

If you’re done waiting for them to “grow out of it,” click Learn More and schedule your consultation today.
