As a Birth Doula, I support women in labor to help ensure a safe, satisfying, and memorable birth experience. My role focuses on providing physical comfort as well as emotional & informational support.
My Mission For The Mommies For as long as I can remember being a mother was the single most gift and blessing I hoped and prayed to experience. As women we, at some point in our childhood, fantasize or dream about becoming mommies in our adulthood. We even had those moments of “Playing House” with our dolls and teddy bears. I had many moments like that throughout my childhood and just knew that someday I was not only going to be a mommy but I was going to be the best mommy ever! Upon reaching my teen years I had started to develop complications that would later affect my ability to ever have any children at all. With this being said at such an early stage in my life I still remained optimistic that someday in the future I would still have the chance to become a mom. It wasn’t too long after that when I was faced with the reality that the opportunity of actually being able to conceive and give birth to a child would be taken away from me … permanently! Out of all the struggles that I have faced in my life up to this point, I have to say honestly that this was the hardest blow to my maternal psyche that I would ever endure. The pain and heartache that a woman goes through when she is faced with the realization that she will never be able to conceive a child or give birth to a child… that pain goes so deep and leaves you feeling like your only half of a woman. At least that is how it felt to me. It just leaves an empty void in your heart that can never be filled; or so I thought. Years later, and a lot of prayers said, something inside hit me. And for the first time in a very long time I began to realize that my prayers of wanting to be a part of bringing a new and beautiful life into this world… are being answered. I finally understood that I do have the wonderful and amazing chance of being a part of the true miracle of life. I may not be the one who is actually or physically going through the whole conception and birth experience, but I can be a part of something that will mean so much, not just to me, but to other women out there who have been blessed with this gift of giving life. With that being said, it hit me that I can support other women in their labor and in the birthing experience. What better way to do that than becoming a Doula. Yes there are other ways of doing that… such as becoming a nurse, being an Obstetrician or a Midwife. But I felt I would be the most useful to women by becoming a Doula. By doing this, I can focus ALL my attention on the mom-to-be and her partner. I can best provide the emotional, physical, and spiritual support that is much needed by women who are going through labor and getting ready to give birth. It is the one on one care that I desire to give most. Why… because that is the kind of compassionate and tender care that I would have hoped to receive if I were able to have a child. Now more than ever I understand that I am able to be a part of bringing a new life into this world; its just happening from a different perspective. One that I am honored and eternally grateful to be a part of! It is my Mission, my Calling, to provide the best support and most memorable birth experience I possibly can to the wonderful women who have been given this unique gift of giving life. I want to provide a positive childbirth memory for you and your partner in anyway I can. Being trained as a Birth Doula I feel I can accomplish this for you. Thank you.
