Dr. Val the picture with you with a pup is there. Thank also Dr. Tim for taking care of Gus.
I would like to give a huge Thank You to Country Care Veterinary for all you tried to do for Lucky, and how well you treated him during his life and after. You made sure that everything was handled, but you malso made sure that we the family came first. You treat all of our babies like family. Thank you so much for this gift that we received today. It means the world after losing our baby.
Tim Slater is a thief! Fact! He stole, what was the guarantee on JOCKEYPORT’S loan! The Client List, the Software, the medical records! ETC! Many things! Hiring him was the biggest mistake in my life! Dr. Sarah and Dr Jo, both wanted Val! I was the one who hired Tim! He always worried about going home! He is a THIEF
Thank you Country Care Veterinary for your all you do! -Jett & M&W family.
Thank you Dr. Tim and staff at Country Care Veterinary for taking care of and treating Emma with such kindness. Your kindness and love for animals definately shows even at the end of life. The Scholler family.
I believe I told you we would be going to Lancaster O ctober 15 I didn’t realize Columbus Day was the week before therefore we would need to bring Zookie October 7 Would that be OK?
Thank you Dr. Tim and your staff for all the excellent care you gave to Zoey ! She is slowly getting back to herself. I’m staying hopeful each day her appetite will pick up. I can’t thank you enough !!! 🐾🐾🐾
I would like to give a big Thank You to Dr. Val and the staff, we had an emergency yesterday and they did an excellent job of helping us and Ringo looks awesome this morning.
There are not enough words in the English language to express my gratitude for the care you gave to Sarita not only in her last days, but all the time she came to "visit" with you. Your compassion dealing not only with her but with her "mommy" was so comforting at such a horrible time. To say thank you doesn't even come close to covering it. Dr Tim, Dr. Val and the girls - you are the absolute greatest - and if anyone says otherwise, send them to me and I'll set them straight! Thank you for treating Sarita like the princess she most definitely was!
Squrriel was doing 40 percent better by last night!!! just after one stress away chew and her half of pain pill!! First time she slept thru night and no accidents!! Would never think of going anywhere else!!! I know bringing her there has a part of her almost 17yr age!!!! Thank you all!!!!!!
Thank you so much Dr Tim for coming here and taking care of Pheebs today! Her eyes look amazing. FYI she still hasn't slept lol

[12/02/19]   Hi Everyone!

Due to the continued snow-fall today and poor travel conditions we are going to be closing the office at noon today (12/2/19).

Stay safe out there everyone!

[10/11/19]   Hi Everyone!

Just wanted to give you a quick heads-up, the office will be closing a little early tomorrow (Saturday - October 12th). We'll be closing around 11:30, so if you have anything to pick up or drop off tomorrow please plan accordingly.

(one of our veterinary technicians, Erin is getting married!)

Thank you!

Just a friendly reminder that we hate treating heat stroke and heat related injuries in pets.

So, with this expected heat wave, help save yourself a ton of money and your pet's life by keeping them inside, restrict exercise and play to just a couple minutes and give them access to plenty of fresh, clean water.

Take Care Everyone!
- Dr. Tim

Just a reminder, the office will be closed for appointments on Thursday the 4th of July, we will be back open on Friday morning. We hope you have a fun and safe Independence Day!

Here are a few good pet safety tips for the holiday from our friends at PetFinder.

Thanks for your support and have a great holiday!

Finally, it is that time of year again! Here is an important message from our friends at the DEC.

Please, unless it is injured, leave it there.

If You Care, Leave It There!

People occasionally find a lone fawn and mistakenly assume it has been abandoned, which is rare. Fawns should never be picked up. If human presence is detected by the doe, the doe may delay its next visit to nurse.

DEC is reminding New Yorkers to enjoy wildlife and their young from a safe distance and resist the urge to touch or pick up newborn fawns and other young wildlife.

Kids Can Now "Play Vet" At Discovery Center

Here is a fun little exhibit we were able to sponsor. Check it out at the The Discovery Center of the Southern Tier The Discovery Center has opened up their newest interactive exhibit. The "Pet Vet" is a section of the children's museum that gives kids the chance to play vet and learn about caring for animals.

[01/30/19]   Hi everyone! The wind and snow seems to have knocked out our phones and internet for the moment. We are here. All of Dr. Tim's surgeries went well and they can go home sometime after 3ish unless we talked about keeping them over night tonight.

Thanks and hopefully we will be back in action soon.

[10/17/18]   Hi Everyone, we are having some issues with our phone lines. We are here, so if you need anything please just send us an email and we will get back to you as long as the internet stays working!

[09/18/18]   Hi Everyone!!

Due to some flooding in the area, the bridge (that is under construction) on Rt. 7 is closed at the moment. So those of you travelling from the Afton direction will want to take a detour down Algerine Street to get to the clinic. Along Algerine there is a spot where the water is flowing over the road too, so be careful! Thanks and hopefully everyone is ok.

- Dr. Tim

[08/23/18]   Update: We have at least one of our lines back in action. Who knows if they'll stay that way through the day.

Thank you!!

Hi Everyone! We are experiencing some issues with our phone system at the moment. Spectrum is not sure when it will be repaired but rest-assured we are here. Our internet is still working so if you have any urgent questions please shoot us an email at [email protected] and we'll get back to you asap. Thank you and sorry for the inconvenience!

Happy Independence Day Everyone! Just a reminder that the office is closed for appointments today. We hope you have a safe and fun holiday.

July 4th is approaching, which means it's time to consider how fireworks will affect your pets. Shelters have a high influx of pets around Independence Day because the sound of fireworks can frighten them, and there's a greater chance they'll try to run away. Consider keeping your pets at home and indoors during the festivities, and talk with your veterinarian about ways you can reduce the risk of problems. Be sure your pet's microchip information is up-to-date in case they do escape and go missing. For more July 4th safety tips, visit

Hi Everyone! Anyone recognize this dog? Is out cruising around Guilford Center this morning!

Hi Everyone! Due to the winter storm and deteriorating road conditions we are going to close the clinic early today (3/2/18) for appointments. We would rather you all and your pets be safe and sound.

Stay safe and we will see you when this mess stops!

- Dr. Tim

[10/03/17]   Hi Everyone!! I just wanted to give you all a heads-up, that we are going to be changing a few things around with the clinic in hopes to better serve you and your pets! The main change will be with our Client Communications System. Over the next couple of days I'll be activating a new reminder email/post card system that will also give us the ability to send text messages to remind everyone of upcoming appointments. This will also allow us to send patient updates and any sort of quick/brief information you may need regarding your pet.
Another thing we are re-vamping is your Pet Portal which will allow you to have access to your pet's health history in case you need to see anything quickly (vaccines, prescriptions, etc). More importantly, your new pet portal will have a link to our new ONLINE SCHEDULER!! -- I know you all love calling a million times and then getting to talk to Stacey to set up an appointment. My hopes and dreams are that this new online scheduler will let you guys schedule appointments on your own time, without too much hassle.

Of course with any new change in technology, you will need to login to your portal and set up a new password. (which I know is annoying, I'm sorry) You will then be able to set up how you want your notifications and if you want us to be able to text you or not.

I am sure there will be a few kinks in the system as we get it up and running, but please bear with us and if you have any questions or problems please let us know and we'll get them sorted out as we can!

I will let you all know when its time to get signed up.

Hope all is well!
- Dr. Tim

This beauty showed up at the clinic today! We love it. Thank you!

Hi Everyone, we just received word that there are a couple of confirmed Canine Influenza (Dog Flu) cases that have been reported in Chemung County. Canine Influenza (similar to human influenza) is a highly contagious and affects mainly the respiratory system of dogs.

We don't want to alarm everyone, but let you know that we did bring the Bivalent - Canine Influenza Vaccination into the clinic this week for dogs that are at a high risk of being exposed to this disease.

Dogs are at the highest risk of contracting the virus at animal shelters, boarding kennels, grooming salons, canine daycare, dog parks and other locations where the animals are in close quarters.

“Typically, introduction of a single dog with influenza to a population of dogs in a kennel or boarding situation will result in rapid spread of the infection, with the expectation that 100 percent of the exposed population will become infected within five to 10 days,” said Amy Glaser, director of the Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory at AHDC. -- Highlights the potential transmission of Canine Influenza.

Please let us know if you think your pet may be at risk and we will discuss your options and the best way to prevent exposure to this disease.

Thank your local plow driver, they are doing a tremendous job.

[03/14/17]   Hi Everyone! Due to the deteriorating weather conditions we have decided to close the office today for regular business. It's just too unsafe for everyone to be travelling in. We have very limited staff this morning and they will be taking care of the hospital patients and will call to reschedule any appointments for today. Thank you for your understanding and stay safe!

UPDATE -- My owner has been located! Thank you everyone for your help!

Hi Everyone!

This week we are recognizing and celebrating our wonderful Veterinary Technicians. Susan, Erin, Stacey and Kate are the staff members who greet you and work hard to make sure your pet's visit to the clinic is as smooth and stress free as possible. Behind the scenes they are doing it all. I take great pride in having a group of technicians who are very talented, hard working and some of the kindest, most caring and gentle souls you will ever encounter.

Each of our veterinary technicians is licensed in NY and attended a Veterinary Science and Technology program to learn their trade. After graduation they sit for their NY State Licensing Exam

They're all camera shy, so if I put some embarrassing photos of them working I'd be in huge trouble. But, if you see any of them this week, please wish them a happy veterinary technician week!

[10/06/16]   Ok, our phones are back up and running!

[10/06/16]   Hi everyone! Our phone and Internet are out of service at the moment. It sounds like Time Warner is working on something in the area. Hopefully it'll be back in action soon.

All our surgery patients are doing great.

Something to Grapple with: How Wily Lyme Disease Prowls the Body

This really is one annoying disease. There is a lot we don't know about it, but it seems like each year we learn a few new and scary things: The sneaky germ uses a mechanism like that of white blood cells to reach vulnerable tissues and hide from antibiotics

So for the past 3 weeks or so we've been working with Kim and Audrey from Every Dog's Dream Adoption Center who were involved with a gut-wrenching rescue situation here in Afton. They entered a home that was a dire situation and really worked hard to arrange for care and housing (I believe foster homes are still needed) for over 26 dogs who were living in less than ideal conditions. These ladies and their volunteers have been working tirelessly to care for this group of animals AND the family that found them stuck in a desperate situation.

I don't think I can say enough about how wonderful it was to see a rescue group acting locally and taking such care and compassion for the animals and the people involved in this situation. It warms me to the core knowing that there are people and groups out there like Every Dog's Dream and their "whole-istic" approach to a really tough situation.

If I can make one plea today, it is to please help support these women and their great work. These dogs need homes, they need supplies, they could use some monetary donations.

Thanks for all your hard work everyone! We appreciate it!

- Dr. Tim
