Welcome Baby Allyson!

Born at 7:07 p.m. on Jan. 4, 2026, at ECU Health Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Allyson is our first baby of the new year! She weighed 7 pounds, 7.2 ounces and measured 19.75 inches long. Proud parents Kimberly and Frank McCrary received the “Baby of the New Year” basket, a cherished tradition at ECU Health Roanoke-Chowan Hospital.

As we wrap up 2025, we're excited to highlight the incredible accomplishments ECU Health celebrated this year.

We earned national recognition for quality, including five-star CMS ratings for Duplin and Bertie Hospitals, top cardiac surgery rankings for the East Carolina Heart Institute and continued honors from the Get With The Guidelines® program. We also launched pediatric robotic surgery and telecardiology in Edenton, introduced the region’s first Intensive Cardiac Rehabilitation program and expanded the Pediatric Asthma Program into rural schools and opened the IMPACT Clinic for perinatal substance use care.

As we look to 2026, we remain grateful for the opportunity to serve and improve the health and well-being of eastern North Carolina.

From her start as a lab tech in 1978 to leading infection prevention during the COVID-19 pandemic, Cyndy has been a steadfast advocate for patients and a shining example of our mission to improve the health and well-being of eastern North Carolina.

Last call for Letters of Intent

ECU Health Roanoke-Chowan Hospital is accepting letters of intent for the 2026 - 27 Community Benefit Grants Program cycle. Grants support projects in Hertford, Gates and Northampton counties in the program's health-related focus areas:

• Access to care
• Chronic disease prevention
• Healthy living

This program is supported by ECU Health and the ECU Health Foundation in an effort to improve the health and well-being of eastern North Carolina.

Letters must be submitted online by Dec. 19. For more information on how to qualify to receive funding, click here: https://go.ecuhealth.org/48gOUyI.
