🌟 Healer Spotlight: Kiamani Hedrington 🌟

Meet Kiamani Hedrington, a dedicated freshman at Hertford County High School with a passion for both the arts and healthcare.

Kiamani stays actively involved in school life as a proud member of the HCHS Soul Sonic Force Marching Band, where she plays the trombone. Beyond band, she enjoys expressing her creativity through playing the guitar, reading, and drawing. She also values spending time with her large family, which plays an important role in shaping her character and motivation.

Looking ahead, Kiamani has set her sights on higher education with plans to pursue a nursing degree at Duke University. Her long-term goal is to become a traveling nurse, allowing her to explore new places while gaining diverse, real-world healthcare experiences and making a meaningful impact in different communities.

Kiamani represents the spirit of a true Healer—driven, compassionate, and eager to grow. Her commitment to both her personal passions and future career path is inspiring, and we are excited to see all she will accomplish. 💙

We are to congratulate Sonya Williams, a long-time ECU Health Roanoke-Chowan Hospital team member. She was surprised and honored by the Ahoskie Town Council with a Women’s History Month recognition at a recent meeting.

This special recognition highlights Sonya’s more than 40 years of dedicated service to our hospital and the Roanoke-Chowan community. Her commitment, compassion and leadership have made a lasting impact on countless patients, families and colleagues over the decades.

Please join us in congratulating Sonya on this well-deserved honor and thanking her for over four decades of caring for our community!

🌟 Healer Spotlight: Jaslin Whitaker 🌟

This week, we are proud to highlight Hertford County Early College High School junior, Jaslin Whitaker!

Jaslin enjoys spending her free time caring for her cats 🐱 and reading 📚, activities that reflect her nurturing spirit and love for learning. She values new experiences and is excited about opportunities that allow her to grow both personally and academically.

Jaslin aspires to begin her journey in healthcare as a Pediatric Nurse 🩺 and later continue her education to become a Pediatrician. She plans to attend Winston-Salem State University, where she looks forward to experiencing a new environment and expanding her horizons beyond her hometown.

Jaslin also shares that being a part of the Health Science Academy has given her the opportunity to explore various medical fields and discover her passion for helping others. Her ambition and openness to growth are setting a strong foundation for a successful future in healthcare.

This week, we are excited to shine the spotlight on Hertford County Early College High School junior, Makayla Powell!

Makayla is a high-achieving student who maintains straight A’s while enjoying a well-balanced life. She loves playing video games 🎮, having fun, helping others, and spending meaningful time with her family and friends ❤️. Her positive spirit and willingness to support others truly reflect the heart of a future healthcare professional.

After high school, Makayla plans to attend Winston-Salem State University to major in Nursing 🩺 with the goal of becoming a Pediatric Nurse. Her passion for helping others, especially children, highlights her dedication to making a difference in the lives of others.

With her strong academic performance and compassionate nature, Makayla is well on her way to achieving her goals in the healthcare field. We are incredibly proud of her journey and excited to see all that she will accomplish! 💙

💗✨ EMPOWERHER HYGIENE DRIVE ✨💗

We are proud to support our Health Science Ambassador, Kiana Faison, as she leads the EmpowerHER Hygiene Drive to uplift young ladies in our community!

Many girls ages 10–18 lack consistent access to basic hygiene essentials. This drive is all about helping them feel confident, clean, and prepared—because every young lady deserves that. 💕

This week, we are proud to highlight Hertford County Early College High School sophomore, Kendall Ashe!

Kendall is a dedicated student who balances academics with athletics, actively participating in both volleyball 🏐 and basketball 🏀. Beyond the classroom and court, Kendall enjoys writing poetry ✍🏽, playing video games 🎮, listening to music 🎧, and spending quality time with younger siblings ❤️. Kendall is also committed to serving others through church, where they serve as a Junior Usher.

From an early age, Kendall has had a strong passion for science, with a particular interest in radiology. The ability to analyze X-rays and identify medical conditions has inspired Kendall to pursue a future in this field.

After high school, Kendall plans to attend Winston-Salem State University to major in Biology 🧬, followed by medical school and a Diagnostic Radiology residency program. With determination, focus, and a strong work ethic, Kendall is well on the path to achieving the goal of becoming a Radiologist.

We are incredibly proud of Kendall’s ambition and commitment to making a difference in healthcare! 💙🩺

This week, we are proud to recognize Aiden Manley, a sophomore at Hertford County Early College High School, for his dedication to athletics and his vision for a future in sports medicine.

Aiden enjoys staying active and involved in a variety of activities. In his free time, he likes skating, playing video games, and participating in sports such as basketball, football, and soccer. His passion for athletics has sparked a strong interest in understanding how the body works and how to help athletes perform at their best.

After high school, Aiden plans to attend East Carolina University to begin studying sports medicine and kinesiology. He hopes to later transfer to Duke University to complete his doctoral degree. Aiden’s goal is to become a coach, sports trainer, or sports medicine physician, where he can help athletes improve their performance, prevent injuries, and recover safely so they can return to the sports they love.

With his passion for athletics, commitment to learning, and desire to support others, Aiden is well on his way to making a meaningful impact in the field of sports medicine.
