For the Last Day of International Women’s Month, NYSAASC would like to pay tribute to the legacy of a woman who was truly a Trailblazer in the ASC industry especially here in New York. Katy Chiang was the first woman to wholly own an Ambulatory Surgery Center in New York State that she opened in 2006. She was an immigrant who came to the USA when she was 18 years old determined to succeed. What makes her story even more incredible is that she was not a doctor but studied the industry and saw the need for more patient access to surgery. Pictured here with Governor Hochul, when she was Lt. Governor, Katy was always the inviting and dignified Lady in the room. Katy passed away in 2020 but leaves her legacy that she proudly passed onto her son. So, on this last day of International Women’s Month, NYSAASC celebrates the Legacy of a Great Woman, Katy Chiang.
