Wesley Brobeck, a 48-year-old youth pastor, was arrested for statutory r**e and sexual battery by an authority figure after Freedom Fellowship Church of White Pine reported he'd been involved in an inappropriate relationship with a 17-year-old girl.

This is exactly why parents need to stay aware of what's happening in their children's lives. Create space for open conversations. Listen without judgment. When kids know they can talk to you about anything, they're more likely to come forward when something feels wrong.

February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month. As someone who spent 23 years in law enforcement, I've seen firsthand how early these patterns start, and how critical it is that we teach young people to recognize red flags before they normalize unhealthy behaviors.

Red flags to talk about: extreme jealousy, constant check-ins, isolation from friends and family, explosive temper, pressure for sexual activity, or put-downs disguised as jokes.

The conversations we have now shape the relationships they'll accept later. If you're a parent, educator, or mentor—don't wait for a crisis to talk about what healthy love actually looks like.

And if you're a teen reading this who recognizes these signs in your own relationship: you deserve better, and help is available.

After 18 years of marriage, Ashley endured relentless control and monitoring from her ex-husband Jason Howe.

When their marriage ended in December 2023, his abuse escalated to terrifying threats including: acid attacks, vehicle ramming, and arson. Howe tracked her with an Apple AirTag on her car, leading to his arrest when he followed an unmarked police car thinking she was inside. No one should live in fear like Ashley did.

⚠️ On Hulu, there's a show called Stalking Samantha based on a true story that everyone needs to see.

For 13 years, Samantha was stalked by her classmate Thomas, who became dangerously obsessed with her. He sent unwanted texts, placed GPS trackers on her car, and showed up uninvited wherever she went. His obsession escalated to the point where he built a bunker and kidnapped her.

Samantha's story is a powerful reminder that stalking is a serious crime with devastating consequences.

The good news? Samantha was finally able to get justice.
