Did you know that Jesus had boundaries? He withdrew from crowds. He rested. He said no to people. He did not meet every expectation placed on Him.

And yet—He remained loving, compassionate, and consistent.

If Jesus did it, then it is important for us to do it as well.

Episode 6 of our Rooted & Resilient mini-series explores why boundaries are not unkind or unspiritual—they are necessary for healthy, sustainable relationships.

As youth leaders, counselors, and mentors working with teens, sometimes what we see isn’t just “drama,” but rather a lack of boundaries.

Teens often don’t know how to set limits in relationships, so they overcommit, people-please, avoid conflict, and become emotionally overwhelmed.

Episode 6 of Rooted & Resilient explores how we can help teens build boundaries that protect both their mental health and their faith.

Today we’re exploring Pillar 4: Identity in Christ.

Adolescence is the season where teenagers are trying to answer one of life’s biggest questions:

“Who am I?”

And in a world filled with comparison, performance pressure, and social expectations, that question can feel overwhelming.

In this episode we discuss:

• Why identity formation is central to adolescence
• The difference between identity and performance
• How comparison impacts teen mental health
• Why identity in Christ creates emotional resilience

Youth leaders and ministry workers—

Teenagers don’t just need guidance about behavior.

They need help forming identity.

Because if teens do not develop a clear identity rooted in Christ, they will build their identity somewhere else—usually in performance, comparison, or approval.

Episode 5 of the Rooted & Resilient mini-series explores why identity formation is such a critical part of teen mental health and faith development.

Parents—

Teenagers today are constantly receiving messages about who they should be.

From social media.
From peers.
From culture.
From expectations.

And in the middle of all of that noise, many teens are quietly asking:

“Am I enough?”

Episode 5 of the Rooted & Resilient mini-series explores how helping teenagers understand their identity in Christ can protect their mental health and strengthen their resilience.

Before Jesus began His public ministry, the Father declared:

“This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

That affirmation came before the miracles.
Before the sermons.
Before the ministry.

Identity came first.

Episode 5 of the Rooted & Resilient mini-series explores why helping teenagers understand their identity in Christ can protect them from the pressures of performance, comparison, and approval.

“Performance is what we do.
Identity is who we are.”

Many teenagers quietly begin to believe their value comes from grades, popularity, talent, or spiritual performance.

But when identity becomes tied to performance, pressure grows.

Episode 5 of our Rooted & Resilient mini-series explores how helping teens anchor their identity in Christ creates stability, resilience, and confidence.

Episode 4 of our Rooted & Resilient mini-series is now live on The Door of Hope Podcast.

Today we’re exploring Pillar 3: Cognitive Reframing.

Teenagers don’t just struggle because of what happens to them.
They also struggle because of the meaning they assign to what happens.

A bad grade becomes: “I’m a failure.”
A missed text becomes: “They must be mad at me.”
A hard season becomes: “Something must be wrong with me.”

In this episode, we talk about how helping teens recognize and challenge unhealthy thought patterns can reduce anxiety, shame, and emotional overwhelm.

I have two spots left for testers!

Hey parents! 🤍

I’ve been working on something new and would love your help.

I created a Calm Down Kit for young children (ages 3–8) to help with big emotions like meltdowns, anxiety, and frustration. It’s filled with simple, practical tools you can use at home—and it also gently includes faith-based encouragement for families who value that.

Before I share it more widely, I’d love to have a few parents test it out and give me honest feedback.

If you have a child in this age range and are willing to try it, comment below or send me a message! I’ll send it to you for free in exchange for your thoughts on what worked, what didn’t, and what could be better. Limited availability!

I’m really excited about this and would love your help in making it as helpful as possible for families. 💛
