American Counseling Association ACA is the world's largest nonprofit association representing professional counselors in various practice settings. There are 20 chartered divisions within ACA.

The American Counseling Association (ACA) is a not-for-profit, professional and educational organization that is dedicated to the growth and enhancement of the counseling profession. These divisions provide leadership, resources and information unique to specialized areas and/or principles of counseling. ACA also has 56 chartered branches in the U.S., Europe, and Latin America. Each spring, ACA holds its annual Conference & Expo offering counseling professionals an opportunity to earn 30+ CEs through a combination of education sessions (typically more than 400 to choose from), and Pre-conference Learning Institutes. Highlights include engaging keynote speakers; an onsite Career Center; the Grad Students & New Professionals Only Series; and the National Awards Ceremony. The American Counseling Association was honored to be invited to Capitol Hill to join national partners and leaders in the su***de prevention field at the JED Foundation’s September 3 briefing in the Rayburn House Office Building. The event convened policymakers, advocates and mental health experts to examine how artificial intelligence is rapidly reshaping the lives of young people and the urgent need for safeguards that protect emotional well-being.

ACA’s longstanding commitment to su***de prevention, including championing robust funding and equitable implementation of the 988 Su***de and Crisis Lifeline, aligns with the priorities shared during this convening. Our counselors across the country continue to advocate for effective policies that protect youth mental health and ensure access to lifesaving care.
