Annandale Women and Family Center

We have earned a reputation for exceptional service and this is illustrated by the number of health care providers that refer their patients to our practice.

Annandale Women & Family Center is staffed by board certified physicians and nurse practitioners in their field of specialty. Because our practice is owned by a nurse practitioner, our staff is chosen in part because of their ability to assist our patients to be pro-active in their wellness rather than re-active in their illness. Our physicians are selected not only for their expertise; but, also and as importantly; for their enthusiastic approach to holistic health care and their innate ability to actively listen to each patient. Our physicians and nurse practitioners see patients in a collaborative effort building on each others knowledge and care. Staff are fluent in following languages: Amharic Indonesian French Spanish Vietnamese Farsi Persian

[07/15/17]   The new administration wants to do two things which will negatively affect the health and economic status of women and their families. The proposed health care bill which would replace the Affordable Care Act (Obama Care) will cut funding for contraceptive methods. Insurance companies will no longer need to provide coverage. And this administration wants to cut all funding for 'teen pregnancy prevention" programs except those advocating abstinence.

The State of Colorado initiated a program in 2009 to provide free long term contraceptives such as the IUD and hormonal implants to teenagers and low income women. The result is that the teen pregnancy rate dropped 40%. The teen abortion rate dropped 42%.

Previous programs advocating abstinence only have failed to decrease either the pregnancy or the abortion rate.

Long term contraception lasts between 3-10 years depending on the device. This means young women can finish their education and be gainfully employed before having children.
It means these young women have a choice of when and whether to have a child. The economic impact is not just for these young women and their families; it affects each of us.
it does not take much brain power to understand that cutting contraceptive access to this vulnerable population will result in negative consequences for them and for the rest of us.
