Nourishment is important in the postpartum period to help your body recover from childbirth and to support breastfeeding, if you choose to breastfeed.

✨Tips for planning nourishment in the postpartum period include:

1. Eating a healthy, balanced diet that includes plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats.
2. Staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water and other fluids.
3. Eating small, frequent meals throughout the day to help maintain your energy levels and prevent hunger.
4. Including foods that are rich in nutrients that are important for postpartum recovery, such as iron, calcium, and vitamin D.
5. Avoiding alcohol and limiting caffeine, as these can interfere with sleep and hydration.
6. Getting enough rest and sleep, as this can help support your physical and emotional health.

It's also important to talk to your OBGYN/Midwife or a Registered Dietitian about your specific nutritional needs and any concerns you have about postpartum nourishment.

Some examples of postpartum healing foods include:
🥣bone broth
🥬leafy greens
🥑healthy fats
🌶️warming spices

Postpartum healing foods can help with postpartum recovery by providing
✨essential nutrients
✨supporting hormone balance
✨promoting healing and tissue repair.

They can also help
⚡️boost energy levels
🥛support milk production for breastfeeding

🍲Here's an easy recipe for homemade bone broth

1. Place bones (beef, chicken, or turkey) in a large pot or slow cooker.
2. Add enough water to cover the bones and add 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar.
3. Add any desired vegetables or herbs such as onion, garlic, celery, or parsley.
4. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 24-48 hours.
5. Strain the broth and discard the bones and vegetables.
6. Store the broth in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or freeze for later use.

✨If you don’t have time to make your own and have high quality bone broths and soups.

🛑🛑🛑HIRE A DOULA🤍

Labor support from a doula lessens the impression of pain, shortens labor, reduces the need for the medicalization of birth, lowers the cesarean birth rate, and increases a mother’s positive feelings about her birth. A doula not only supports you during pregnancy with informational support, but also supports you throughout your labor by using kind and encouraging words, touch, and labor support tools like: use of water, change of position, birth stools, walking, lunging, resting with a peanut ball, massage, yoga sling support, endless pillows, acupuncture, and many more modalities.

If you haven’t hired a doula yet, please consider it. We have many recommendations and we believe in their value.

Happy !

A Postpartum Doula is a non-medical, emotional, and physical support person who assists you and your family after your baby/babies have been born. The Support of a Postpartum Doula will help bring the focus back to healing and recovery and ensure plenty of snuggling and proper nourishment for Mom and baby. I am here to make sure you get a shower and endless snacks. I can cook a family meal so you do not have to, help with mundane tasks like folding laundry or taking care of the dishes. Help with breastfeeding/bottle feeding/formula feeding, teach you how to use your breast pump, or figure out how that baby carrier works. I will be there for you as your hormones are quickly adjusting, making you feel sad and happy at the same time. We can discuss your birth experience and how you feel about it. I can offer insight into newborn sleep and feeding routines from a professional perspective as well as from a Mama of two. I am here to facilitate and nurture the Mama and meet the needs of the whole family, like playing with or reading books to your older child while you take a nap. You can look forward to having time for self-care, connecting with your Spouse, or just simply having time to smell your newborn's head. Every Mother and family has different needs, meaning not every family receives the same type of support. Having the support of a Postpartum Doula makes the difference in whether you just survive, or thrive in the fourth trimester, (the 12 weeks following the birth of the baby/babies). During this time your baby is adjusting to life outside of your womb, and your body is healing internally from the pregnancy.

I have also added additional services on my website for yard maintenance. My husband (Dakota) can come to mow your lawn during this time. This is a thing that you do not necessarily think of when bringing a new baby into the family but needs to be done.

Do you wish you had a Postpartum Doula?
Or are you going to hire one next time?

I will always speak up, even if my voice shakes. It is important to be heard! Your birth matters, you matter, your motherhood journey matters! I have been told my whole life to find my "filter" and well I am still searching. Ha! If you know me personally, I would love for you to share a story about how I inspired you to use your voice. I love empowering people to speak up!

Thank you for being in this space with me as we grow Our Hive! I want this to be a safe space for all.

Over the next few weeks, I am going to share more about myself, my family, and what I pray I can bring to you!

While I was on active duty it came to my attention how many of my friends who were expecting did not have proper support. Honey Home came to life after I found myself getting out of the United States Marine Corps.

Since separating from the military I have married the love of my life, had two children, and moved from California to Arlington, Texas. With Dallas/Fort Worth as our Home, for now, I am creating a community that I love and support.

Although my main focus is postpartum services, I do offer birth doula services a couple times each year. I’ve learned that home is where you make it, therefore being comfortable during the most precious and vulnerable time of your life is vital.

I hope to bring that to you!

Meet Traci Santangelo, APRN, CNM 😄

Traci is the owner, head midwife, and care provider at BirthPointe!

Originally from Fort Worth, Texas, Traci received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Texas Womans' University and started her career working in a local Labor & Delivery Unit. She then married a Yankee and they moved to Detroit, Michigan, then to Miami, Florida, and then to Chicago, Illinois - all for his exciting career.

It was at the University of Illinois at Chicago that I received her Master's in Nursing with a Midwifery designation and a deep desire to move back to the Lone Star State.

Birth has always been Traci’s passion! She has worked many years as a labor and delivery nurse and it has really solidified that draw to serve women in this way.

With this passion, BirthPointe LLC was born! Now Traci happily serves women in the Dallas and Fort Worth area. Her mission is to make sure each and every woman that comes into her care feels validated, heard, and respected! 💞
