Nourishment is important in the postpartum period to help your body recover from childbirth and to support breastfeeding, if you choose to breastfeed.
✨Tips for planning nourishment in the postpartum period include:
1. Eating a healthy, balanced diet that includes plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats.
2. Staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water and other fluids.
3. Eating small, frequent meals throughout the day to help maintain your energy levels and prevent hunger.
4. Including foods that are rich in nutrients that are important for postpartum recovery, such as iron, calcium, and vitamin D.
5. Avoiding alcohol and limiting caffeine, as these can interfere with sleep and hydration.
6. Getting enough rest and sleep, as this can help support your physical and emotional health.
It's also important to talk to your OBGYN/Midwife or a Registered Dietitian about your specific nutritional needs and any concerns you have about postpartum nourishment.
Some examples of postpartum healing foods include:
🥣bone broth
🥬leafy greens
🥑healthy fats
🌶️warming spices

🍲Here's an easy recipe for homemade bone broth
1. Place bones (beef, chicken, or turkey) in a large pot or slow cooker.
2. Add enough water to cover the bones and add 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar.
3. Add any desired vegetables or herbs such as onion, garlic, celery, or parsley.
4. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 24-48 hours.
5. Strain the broth and discard the bones and vegetables.
6. Store the broth in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or freeze for later use.
✨If you don’t have time to make your own and have high quality bone broths and soups.
