We are an after school program that helps children with learning, behavioral and/or social struggles by stimulating the weaker hemisphere of their brain.
The Brain Balance Program® brings hope to families of children who suffer with behavioral, academic, and social challenges. Our specialized achievement centers offer a drug-free, whole-child approach to address the underlying issues in many of the behavioral, developmental, and learning disorders that plague so many children today. For over a decade, the Brain Balance Program has helped thousands of kids struggling with ADHD, Learning Disorders, Dyslexia and many other neurobehavioral issues. They have become more focused and better behaved and have seen improvement in their academic performance, communication and social skills.
Mission: To make the Brain Balance Program® available to as many children as possible so that each child may reach his or her greatest physical, mental, social and academic potential.

Welcome Cooper, we look forward to seeing your progress 😍
Creative arts and crafts are a fun and calming way to engage the brain. Why is that important? The areas of the brain used for creativity are also responsible for developing non-verbal skills, which are needed to sense danger or safety. It also is key for modulating emotions and problem-solving. The more children engage in creative arts, the better their problem-solving skills become. When you think about it, problem-solving is really creative ideas paired with reasoning skills. All children need more opportunities to be creative, and remember - it is developing their brains!

Never let people label your child and limit their potential, believe in them and provide them every chance to succeed 💪💪
It is so important for our kiddos to take time to reflect and record their positive growth. According to @CarolDweckAuthor, practicing growth mindset boosts self-esteem and confidence.

At Brain Balance, we believe in the POWER OF PLAY! Getting out on a beautiful sunny day boosts spirits and the immune system too! Many children with special needs are vitamin D deficient. Natural exposure to sunshine (vitamin D) can help boost a child’s immune system. When you tell your child to “go outside and play”, you’re not just getting him or her out of the house and out of your hair. You’re promoting healthy brain development and a stronger immune system. Visit our website and read our blog for more information on the brain-body benefits of outdoor play.

We all know that sirens and loud noises can be overwhelming, but did you know that constant noise like the air conditioner, ceiling fan, or even constant chatter in the classroom can trigger sensory overload?
Children with hypersensitivity cannot block out background noise and the constant sound makes it difficult for the brain to focus on anything else. This can lead to missed information, meltdowns, irritability, and can even impact social skills.
A quick tip: Give your child a quiet place to retreat to when needed. Be aware that just because a noise isn’t bothering you, doesn’t mean it isn’t bothering your child. If you need to go somewhere with loud noises, try noise-reducing headphones.

Did you know providing children with opportunities for creative play can help emotional development? Creative play is key for social and emotional development by giving children, who may struggle verbally, a way to express their feelings. Children who learn how to express their feelings through art are then able to express themselves in social settings and regulate their behavior more appropriately.

How AWESOME is this? At Brain Balance, we ask our kiddos to record the positive changes that they see in themselves. Growth mindset is so important. This creates new neuro-pathways and actually teaches the brain to think positive.

At Brain Balance, we believe in the POWER OF PLAY. The magic of imaginary play gives kids the power to conquer things like the monsters under the bed, the dragon in the backyard, or flying to the moon in an old box covered in foil. Albert Einstein said “Logic will get you from A to B, but imagination will take you everywhere.” Imaginary play helps build kids’ confidence and self-perception! We think that’s pretty cool!

Do you know what it feels like to have an itch that you just can’t get rid of? It distracts you from everything you need to be focusing on. Imagine feeling everything that strongly. For kids who are hypersensitive to touch, even the lightest touch can be bothersome. You may find that your child is extremely picky about clothing, avoids showers or brushing their hair, or complains about how things feel.
A quick tip: Coping strategies like soft, relaxed clothing or tagless shirts can help avoid meltdowns while you work to address the cause. To help improve your child’s tactile processing, try dry brushing their arms and introducing new textures at home.

Valentine’s day is here. It’s a day to remember and appreciate the people you love, but what if we extended that love even further? What will you do? Maybe leave some flowers on your neighbor's porch or take a care package to a homeless shelter. Let’s put some real heart into Valentine's day this year!

Love is in the air!! Our students are so precious and they give their all when they come for their sessions!! We dedicate this wall to them and all their hard work 👏👏
As we start a new year, we are asking our students to write down the positive changes they are making. Self-awareness is an important part of being successful. This kiddo recognized his positive change and was motivated to keep working hard. Try this at home to see how it impacts your family.

Sometimes a tantrum isn’t just a tantrum! Your child may be experiencing sensory overload. Sensory overload occurs when incoming sensory information exceeds the ability of the brain to process it.
This can be very scary for a child and frustrating for the parent witnessing it. Imagine all of your senses being heightened all the time: the tick of the clock just won’t go away, the scratchy fabric of your jeans is making you itchy, the smell of the hot lunch from the cafeteria makes you nauseous, and the bright lights in the classroom are making your eyes blurry. With every passing minute, it gets more and more overwhelming until you break down. By catching the signs of sensory overload early, you can help your child self-regulate and possibly prevent a sensory meltdown before your child reaches their breaking point.
You can learn more about sensory processing on our parent's blog and our webinar. Check out our website to find out more.

Reading is the foundation of all learning. When your child struggles with reading, it not only affects their grades but their self-confidence as well. The fear of being called upon to read out loud in class can cause overwhelming anxiety and feelings of defeat. The good news is that these reading deficits can be helped! We have helped many children triumph over their reading struggles. Call us today to set up an assessment to get to the root of your child’s reading struggles.

Creative play can increase social development. Art projects, puppet shows, and playing dress-up gives children opportunities to interact with their peers in a non-stressful environment. Imaginative play allows children to develop basic communication and social interaction skills.
