Congrats, Dr. K! đź’™
🎊 We’re excited to spotlight Dr. Kimberly Kuchinski, a recent recipient of our Scholarly Award.
Dr. Kuchinski is medical director at Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Hospital Emily Howatt Pliskatt Pediatric Unit in Bethlehem, and is the only pediatric physiatrist in the Lehigh Valley. As President & CEO Michael Spigel shared when presenting Dr. Kuchinski with the Scholarly Award: Not only has she consistently demonstrated her steadfast commitment to providing the best care for our youngest patients here at Good Shepherd, but her dedication to children extends beyond our walls, as she also consults at local health networks and is president of the Medical Executive Board.
As part of her busy schedule, Dr. Kuchinski also finds time to participate in scholarly work to further pediatric rehabilitation. Recently, she authored the article “Preliminary Assessment of a Robotic System for Overground Gait in Children with Cerebral Palsy,” which was accepted into the Journal of Enabling Technologies, and she co-authored a case summary on “Body Weight Supported Treadmill Training for the Ventilator-Dependent Child.”
Additionally, she authored two poster presentations at Good Shepherd’s 2024 Innovation Summit — one on “Acute Rehabilitation for Infants Requiring Non-invasive Ventilation and High Flow Oxygen” and the other on “The Effects of Body Weight Supported Treadmill Treading on an Extremely Premature Tracheostomy Dependent Infant as a Modality to Facilitate Ventilator Weaning.”
She also served as a platform speaker at Lehigh Valley Health Network’s National Trauma Conference on “Rehabilitation of the Pediatric Trauma Patient.”
Beyond that, Dr. Kuchinski supports area pediatric rehabilitation residency programs, serving as rotation director for Tower Health’s physical medicine & rehabilitation residency program and has local residents rotate with her at the Pediatric Unit. She also shares her expertise at residency lectures at hospitals and NICUs in the Lehigh Valley, Berks County and Philadelphia.
Congratulations, Dr. K., for all you do to support children! 👏
