Not that long ago only a few years I was looking for help on line I wasn't sure what was wrong with me I suspected PTSD. There was no mention of it on line or support groups for any EMS, Fire, or Police to be found either, The only mention of PTSD was the military and there was an alarming fact about su***de in EMS but no official statistics since most cases happened off duty they were not considered work related. I was in a bad way back then it took 6 months of intense therapy and the hard truth that I was never going to work in EMS again. I was devastated, Something else that surprised me was when i did come forward other medics and EMT'S came to me to talk about their demons. This made me question how many of us suffer in silence and think were alone in this fight? ive made it my goal to be there, with education, resources, the realization your not alone and someone to talk to. I also created a group that's open to join for postings, discussions and more. my hope is this is helpful. If their are any suggestions or you want to post something feel free.
