Happy Tuesday, parents! Today's Tidbit is all about the power of Zzz's. Sleep is absolutely crucial for your child's growth, development, mood, and even their immune system. But how do you make sure they're getting enough?
Here are our top tips for ensuring your little one gets the sleep they need:
🌙 Find out their age-based sleep needs
☁ While every child is different, the average gradeschooler needs about 9-12 hours per night, and teens need 8-10 hours per night. Consider this when deciding what time your child should be going to bed!
🌙 Avoid over-scheduling
☁ Extracurriculars are great, but be cautious about activities that encroach on bedtime.
🌙 Start your bedtime routine early
☁ "Book, bath, bed" is a popular and effective one.
🌙 Set the mood
☁ A warm bath, a story, quiet playtime, and dimming the lights can signal to their body that it's time to wind down.
🌙 Model healthy sleep habits.
☁ Remember, our children mimic us whether we like it or not!
