Today we celebrate the women who do it all — early mornings at the rink, tying skates, hauling hockey bags, cheering from the stands, traveling countless miles, washing endless piles of gear, and always being there with encouragement after every game.

Thank you for the sacrifices you make and the love and support you give our players every single day. AHA hockey wouldn’t be possible without you.

Cooper and the Charlotte Checkers play tonight. The game is a win to advance through the off season- Good Luck Coop!

🏒Peyton Weir
Peyton is competing at the 2026 USA Hockey National Player Development Camp – Michigan Tryouts. She’s battling for one of just 90 forward spots, with only 5 players selected from Michigan.
If selected, she will advance to the 16/17 USA Development Camp held July 13–18 at Miami University—an incredible opportunity to compete among the nation’s top players!

Emma and the Toronto Sceptres will play the Ottowa Charge. As she continues her amazing pro career!

📣 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – SUPER KICKER RODEO 🤠

Northern Lights Arena is looking for volunteers for the Super Kicker Rodeo on May 8th & 9th!

This event supports the MPAC First Time Skater Fund, helping introduce new skaters to the ice and grow our hockey community. 🏒

Last year, MPAC donated over $500 in proceeds from this event to help cover the cost of spring LTS programs in our community.

We’d love to see AHA families step up and lend a hand!

🚨 AHA IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨

Due to overwhelming love for hockey (and absolutely no desire to ever leave the rink 😅), the Alpena Hockey Association Board has voted to EXTEND THE 2025–2026 SEASON THROUGH AUGUST… effective immediately.

That’s right — hockey is now a year-round sport.

❄️ Cancel your summer plans
🏖️ Trade in beach days for ice time
🧥 Unpack those puffy jackets
🥅 Get the gear back out of storage
🧊 Embrace the chill… indefinitely

We expect full attendance, continued enthusiasm, and peak mid-season energy levels through the hottest months of the year. Hydration will now include both water bottles and hot chocolate.

Schedules will be released shortly (once we figure out how to freeze the rink in July 😉).

The USA Sled Hockey Team brings home the gold, making it THREE hockey gold medals for Team USA at these Olympics! What an incredible moment for American hockey. 💪🏒

From the women’s team, to the men’s team, and now sled hockey — the dominance of USA Hockey on the world stage is something special to watch.
