Every year on the first Sunday in May, this year it’s May 4th, International Bereaved Mother’s Day honors mothers who have lost a child. It’s also a day to recognize women who cannot be a mother due to infertility or other health reasons.

Today, on Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day, we show solidarity and hold space for healing for those affected by the loss of a young child or pregnancy. Take time today to honor your feelings and process them accordingly.

Today, we honor the little ones we carried but never got to hold and those we held but couldn’t keep. As a mother who has experienced both miscarriage and infant loss, I stand with every parent navigating this painful journey.

As a mother who has experienced both miscarriage and the heartbreaking loss of my son, Zeke, in infancy, I want to say this: I see you, I grieve with you, and I am you. Your heartache, your strength, and your love are real and valid, even when the world cannot see the loss you carry.

Grief is a journey, and no matter where you are on that path, know that you are not alone. Your feelings are valid, your pain is real, and your love endures forever.

It was through my own loss that I found purpose, creating my birth doula practice to support and empower families during these sacred moments. Whether you are honoring a little one today or holding space for someone who is, we are connected in this shared experience of love AND loss.

You are not alone. Today and every day, let us hold space for healing, remembrance, and hope.

Sending you strength, comfort, and compassion. Today and always.
