The Medicare Advantage & Prescription Drug Plan Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) lasts until December 7.

Now is the time to choose your Medicare coverage for 2026!
Question: If I join a Medicare Advantage plan, do I still need to pick a Medicare Part D Prescription Drug plan?

There are two main points to keep in mind. First, if you join a Medicare Advantage HMO or PPO, most plans include a Medicare Part D Prescription Drug plan as part of the coverage. The second point is that in most instances, you must use the Prescription Drug plan that is part of the Medicare Advantage coverage; meaning you cannot join a Medicare Advantage health plan and then join another company’s Prescription Drug plan. It is important to verify that your prescription medications are covered by any Medicare Advantage plan you are considering.

Those enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan or a standalone Medicare Prescription Drug plan (PDP) may experience changes to their plan benefits and/or premium for 2026. Carefully review your Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) letter sent early October by your Medicare insurance plan to verify all changes to your coverage for next year.

The Medicare Advantage & Prescription Drug Plan Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) is NOW!
Question: What is the difference between Medigap (Medicare Supplement) and a Medicare Advantage plan?

A Medigap plan is designed to fill the gaps of original Medicare, which is made up of Medicare Part A (Hospitalization) and Medicare Part B (Medical Services). It has deductibles and co-insurance but does not cover prescription medications. This is why many people on original Medicare purchase a Medigap plan and may also purchase a Medicare Part D Prescription Drug plan.

Medicare Advantage plans are private Medicare plans that have a contract with the government. These plans’ benefits must be at least comparable to original Medicare, and many feature additional benefits beyond those covered by original Medicare, often including a Prescription Drug plan for no additional charge.

The culture. That is why Anyssa, RN, has chosen to work for BSA, and why she continues to stay. “I chose BSA from hearing that way others spoke about the culture, and I stayed due to experiencing the culture myself,” she shares.

What makes BSA stand out is the supportive, team-driven environment. There is a strong sense of ownership and helpful hands at every corner. “Everyone is always quick to jump in and help when needed. The ‘that’s not my job’ attitude is unheard of.”

Since joining in 2018 as a PCT, Anyssa has grown her career and recently graduated from nursing school. Now a float pool RN, she enjoys working across different units and building relationships throughout the hospital. “I chose to stay in the float pool because I love going to a different unit each shift and making connections/friends with coworkers all throughout the hospital,” she shares.
