🌟Legitimate nutrition and nutrition habit guidance DOESN'T revolve around absolutes.

💜It DOES revolve around facts and nuance.

💜Legitimate Nutrition professionals will provide information and guidance based on legitimate scientific evidence.

💜Legitimate Nutrition Professionals will provide nuance around nutrition habits and often say "it depends" because there are many factors that influence people in different ways.

🥰Legitimate Nutrition Professionals want to help you and want you to succeed.

💥Nutrition misinformation DOES revolve around absolutes.

🤯Nutrition misinformation and those who perpetuate it, LOVE to deal in absolutes.
This is "good", this is "bad".
Eat this, not that.

🤬Nutrition misinformation loves to be fear-mongering.

🤬Nutrition misinformation loves to be cherry-picked by influencers, charlatans, and scam artists to fit their narrative so you buy their products and they can make money off you, no matter the cost to you.

🤬People who perpetuate nutrition misinformation want you to FAIL and will blame you for your failure instead of their faulty products and programs.

💜Be diligent about who you trust and follow when it comes to any nutrition/health information and guidance.

No bu****it.
No gimmicks.
No MLMs.
No fads.
Just legitimate information, products, and programs you can use to get real, sustainable results. 💜💪

🌟GLP-1 medications are a wonderful and a fantastic TOOL and ADJUNCT when it comes to weight loss, body recomposition, and weight management.

BUT...

💥A person has to have an UNDERSTANDING and have REALISTIC EXPECTATIONS of what GLP-1 medications can and can't do!

This is where GUIDANCE comes in.

🌟If you are taking or want to be taking a GLP-1 medication for weight loss, weight management, and/or body recomposition you NEED to have the PROPER GUIDANCE.

👉Proper guidance includes:
🍽 Nutrition guidance from a Certified Nutritionist or RD.
💪 Exercise guidance from a Certified Fitness Professional.
📚👩‍⚕️ Expectation management from health and medical professionals that understand how GLP-1 medications work.

🤯 If you AREN'T GETTING guidance on any level, minimal to in-depth, you are going to struggle with successful weight loss, weight management, and body recomposition.

🤯 If you ARE getting guidance, (minimal to in-depth) but aren't putting in the work and consistency, you will struggle with successful weight loss, weight management, and body recomposition.

We can help with all of the above.
No bu****it.
No MLMs.
No gimmicks.
No fads.
Just legitimate information, products, and programs you can use to get real, sustainable results. 💜💪

Onward with EMS WEEK (May 17-23) 2026! 💙🚑

Today, I want to talk about mental health in EMS, specifically the mental health of EMS providers. 💚🚑

The image from the show Scrubs, where Dr. Cox is explaining why health care providers use humor as a coping mechanism for dealing with the trauma of the job, is quite accurate.

This holds so true in EMS. Every one of us uses humor on some level to deal with what we see and do in EMS.

We see the best of humanity and the absolute worst. Sometimes, no matter how hard we try, we can't save that patient. We get assaulted by patients, both physically and verbally, by patients and their family members. We have messed up sleep schedules if we even get sleep. Perpetual sleep debt is our normal. Getting a meal at times can be a challenge. We miss out on a lot of family and social events. But, sometimes we get that save, that win; we have good days, and that sticks with us! EMS isn't just a job. It's a calling!

We are human. EMS has a very heavy toll on the body, both physically and mentally. Until recently, the mental health of EMS providers wasn't talked about much; it was seen as a weakness. EMS providers were just supposed to "suck it up" because "it's just the job. " That mentality is changing slowly, but it's changing for the better. As EMS is recognized as more of an essential service (that's another topic for another time), like PD and FD, mental health advocacy and assistance are becoming more readily available.

Let me say again, WE ARE HUMAN. We do our best to balance life. And we all have our coping mechanisms, but we all need help sometimes. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH ASKING FOR HELP! For those of you who have a spouse, significant other, or family member in EMS, communicate with them so they know they have support and that they aren't alone! For those of us in EMS, never hesitate to seek mental health help if you need, for there is no shame in doing so; you are not alone! 💚🚑

May 17th to 23rd, 2026 is National EMS WEEK! 💙🚑⚕️💙

Clear, visible house numbers can save precious time during an emergency.

When EMS, firefighters, or law enforcement are responding, being able to quickly identify the correct address can make a major difference in patient care and response times.

Here are key ways to ensure your house numbers are easy for emergency responders to see:

⭐️Use large, easy-to-read numbers
Choose numbers that are at least 4–6 inches tall with bold, simple lettering.

⭐️Create strong contrast
Dark numbers on a light background — or light numbers on a dark background — improve visibility day and night.

⭐️Make them reflective or illuminated
Reflective numbers or dedicated lighting help responders locate your home quickly in low-light conditions, bad weather, or nighttime emergencies.

⭐️Place numbers where they are clearly visible from the street
Avoid placing them behind trees, decorations, flags, or seasonal items. Numbers should be visible from both directions of travel if possible.

⭐️Add numbers to multiple locations
Consider placing numbers on:

The house itself

The mailbox

A curb marker

Entrance posts or fences for long driveways

⭐️Keep numbers maintained
Replace faded, peeling, broken, or obstructed numbers regularly.

⭐️Consider rural or hard-to-find properties
Homes with long driveways or hidden entrances benefit from reflective driveway signs or illuminated address markers at the road entrance.

A clearly marked address is one of the simplest and most important ways to help EMS find you quickly when every second counts.💙🚑

EMS week 2026 is going strong! 💙⚕️🚑

Today, let's talk about the FILE OF LIFE!

This card and information is a HUGE help to EMS when a person calls 911!

A FILE OF LIFE contains essential patient information for EMS that helps us in pre-hospital care! These cards have (but are not limited to) patient name, DOB (date of birth), address, medical history, medications, allergies, and emergency contacts.

Sometimes, patients will tell EMS that the ER has a list of their medications and medical history. Unfortunately, most EMS services don't have access to ER records for various reasons, which is why every time a person calls 911, when EMS gets to the scene, we ask for a current list of medications, allergies, and a medical history.

These cards fit in wallets, purses, backpacks, and glove compartments. Having a FILE OF LIFE on your refrigerator at home is one of the first places EMS will look in a patient's residence if that patient is unconscious or has an altered mental status.

A person should keep their FILE OF LIFE as up to date as possible so EMS has the most accurate information for pre-hospital care.

Most doctor's offices, primary care provider offices, and hospitals have FILE OF LIFE cards (or something similar) available to the public! However, if you can't locate one, you can download one (search "free printable file of Life forms") and make your own!💙🚑⚕️

May 17-23, 2026, is NATIONAL EMS WEEK! 💙🚑
Stay tuned all week long!

Today, we are going to play a game of "Did you know?"

👉1. Did you know there is meaning to the EMS Star of Life?
There are six branches of the star that symbolize the six main tasks executed by EMS providers all through the emergency chain:
⚕️Detection: The first people on the scene, usually civilians or those involved in the incident.
Reporting: Calling 911 so EMS can be dispatched.
⚕️Response: The first responders provide first aid and immediate care to the extent of their capabilities and scope of practice.
⚕️On-scene care: EMS providers arrive and provide immediate care to the extent of their capabilities and scope of practice on-scene.
⚕️Care in transit: The EMS providers proceed to transfer the patient to a hospital via ambulance or helicopter for specialized care and provide medical care during transportation.
⚕️Transfer to definitive care: Appropriate specialized care is provided at the hospital
⚕️The Rod (staff) of Asclepius: a serpent-entwined rod wielded by the Greek God Asclepius, who is associated with healing and medicine.

👉2. Did you know there are different levels of EMS providers? EMR (first responders), EMT, AEMT (advanced EMT), PARAMEDIC, and CRITICAL CARE PARAMEDIC (CCP). These providers vary in their SCOPE OF PRACTICE and education, which is dictated on both a state and national level. The higher the provider level requires more education and training as the scope of practice becomes more broad. The EMS scope of practice is public:
https://idph.iowa.gov/bets/ems/scope-of-practice

👉3. Did you know there are different types of EMS services? Volunteer services are composed of EMR, EMT, AEMT, PARAMEDIC, AND CCP providers that volunteer their time and are unpaid. These services may not be staffed 24/7, and the level of providers can vary. Services that are staffed 24/7, are paid, and typically have consistent higher level of EMS providers are fire based EMS (based out of a FD), county based (stand alone based), hospital based (based out of a hospital), and private EMS service (owned by a private company).

May 10th - 16th is National Police Week. 💙🚓🐕‍🦺

During National Police Week, this paramedic would like to give recognition and appreciation to all police officers — both human and K9 — who serve our communities every day.

Having worked alongside and continuing to work with law enforcement every shift, I have seen firsthand the dedication, courage, sacrifice, and teamwork that officers and K9 teams bring to every call. Your commitment to protecting others never goes unnoticed.

Thank you for standing beside EMS in difficult moments, for your professionalism, and for your unwavering service. To every officer and every K9 partner: stay safe, and know this paramedic has your back. 🚓🐕‍🦺🚑💙

Happy Mother’s Day to the woman who can hear a wrapper open from three rooms away.

Moms: powered by caffeine, chaos, and asking “What’s for dinner?” every single day.

Happy Mother’s Day! Thanks for keeping tiny humans alive with mostly patience and snacks.

Raising me deserves a trophy… and probably several therapy sessions.

Mom, I finally understand everything you said growing up. Unfortunately, it happened after I became annoying too.

Happy Mother’s Day to the queen of finding things that were “literally right there.”

Motherhood: where going to the bathroom alone becomes a luxury vacation.

Thanks for loving me through every awkward phase… especially the eyebrow years.

Moms don’t want breakfast in bed. Moms want everyone to leave them alone for 24 hours.

Happy Mother’s Day! Your job has no PTO, no sick days, and terrible coworkers… but you still crush it.

To all moms: your children may not listen, but somehow they can hear a bag of chips open from a mile away.

Mom, thanks for teaching me patience… mostly by making me wait while you finished talking to someone at the grocery store.

Happy Mother’s Day to the dog moms whose camera rolls are 98% dog pictures and 2% screenshots you forgot to delete. 🐾

Raising dogs is basically motherhood… except your kids lick their own butts and still think they deserve to sleep on your pillow.

Happy Mother’s Day to the woman who says “move over” to a dog in her own bed every night.

Dog moms: spending hundreds on toys just for the dog to play with the Amazon box instead.

Happy Mother’s Day to the dog mom who talks to her dogs in a baby voice and honestly sees nothing wrong with it.

Behind every spoiled dog is a dog mom saying, “He’s usually never like this.”

Happy Mother’s Day to the dog moms who have more treats in their purse than actual snacks for themselves.

Your dog asked me to tell you Happy Mother’s Day… but then got distracted by a leaf.

Being a dog mom means never peeing alone and always having an audience while eating.

Happy Mother’s Day to the dog moms whose dogs have a healthier diet, better wardrobe, and more followers than most people.

Some moms hear “Mommy!” all day. Dog moms hear “bark bark bark” at absolutely nothing.

Happy Mother’s Day to the real MVPs: dog moms who share their blankets with 80+ pounds of snoring chaos. 🐶💐
