Why I Take a Spiritual Retreat Every Year

One of the most powerful things I do annually and something I’d recommend to anyone is carving out time for a spiritual retreat.

Just like entrepreneurs step away to work on their business (instead of being stuck in it), we need time to step back and work on our lives. Day-to-day, we’re pulled in a thousand directions work, family, social media, constant obligations. It’s so easy to slip into living reactively instead of consciously.

A retreat gives you the space to realign with your purpose, your values, and your calling. For me, that means 8–9 days in the mountains, unplugged no phone, no email, no social media. I spend the time meditating, journaling, and reading. It gives me a bird’s-eye view of my life:
• What habits or patterns need to change?
• What negative emotions or energy do I need to release?
• Am I living from love, kindness, and service or from fear and greed?

The stillness creates room for forgiveness, clarity, and renewal.

If you’ve never tried it, I can’t recommend it enough. Even a few days in nature, away from the noise, can shift everything.

Adventure update from Dr. Jeremy Watson:

One of the biggest benefits of staying in shape year-round is simple when challenges pop up, you’re already ready. I don’t “train” for the mountain, I train for life.

My routine:
💪 3–4 strength sessions a week
🔥 HIIT workouts
🏃 A couple of longer runs

Yesterday, I put it to the test: climbed 5 miles up a mountain at 10,000 feet with a 63-lb pack and felt great the whole way.

Health isn’t about perfection. It’s about consistency. Build the foundation, and life’s adventures become possible.
