Happy 2026 Everyone! I am living this year with the theme AGING BACKWARDS. I will be sharing ideas and information to you on this theme with the focus on strengthen your cognitive reserve.
Cognitive reserve is your brain's resilience, its ability to cope with damage or disease (like Alzheimer's) without showing obvious symptoms, by using alternative neural pathways or more efficient strategies.
Cognitive reserve is built over a lifetime through education, mentally stimulating work, social engagement, physical activity, and healthy living, allowing for better function despite brain changes, much like having many roads to a destination so one blocked road doesn't stop you.
I will be posting a weekly challenge that incorporates a few of the above mentioned components that strengthen and support brain health.
