Take it Easy™️ Calming Serum is hands down one of my favorite products. This beautiful client was suffering an inflammatory response from her pregnancy and before we even started her on an in-spa treatment, we had her start using this right away. THESE RESULTS WERE IN A MATTER OF DAYS 👏🏼 with nothing else added!! This incredible serum provides overall hydration with its hyaluronic acid delivery system and works to reduce the appearance of redness and inflammation with ingredients like Saccharide Isomerate and Chrysanthellum indicum. It helps to significantly calm the skin while also improving texture, enhancing hydration and softening the skin. This is a must have for anyone with sensitive, reactive or compromised skin. Excellent for rosacea, eczema or psoriasis flare ups.

Do you self-treat your skin between your professional treatments? Every client should be on some type of targeted treatment at home to address their specific concern. Check out these acid-based correctors from that we carry in spa. Many of our travel kits include one of these and can be yours for free when you book with Johanna for the month of August!

What is LED and what does it do for the skin?

LED (Light Emitting Diode) is a skincare treatment that uses varying wavelengths (colors) of light. NASA originally developed it for plant growth experiments on shuttle missions and later found it to have promise for wound treatment. This led to vast research that has shown more benefits for the skin. Due to its healing properties, LED is now used in skin care for treatments such as reducing redness and inflammation, killing acne causing bacteria and boosting collagen production for healthy and youthful skin. A custom “color” LED treatment is available for you to book with your next service!

It may be in the 90's here, but that doesn't change the fact that its PUMPKIN SPICE season. Did you know pumpkin is a superstar in the skin care world?
🎃
Remember my rant about ACE a few days ago? Well, pumpkin contains all three of those vitamins, making it a brightening, age defying, nourishing super hero!
🎃
Pumpkins contain fruit enzymes protease and alpha-hydroxy acids (AHA's) that gently exfoliate the skin by breaking down dead skin proteins and promote healthy cell turnover (hello new skin!)
🎃
Remember, I also raved about B Vitamins? Well, you guess it, pumpkin has tons of b vitamins as well as zinc which makes it perfect for blemish prone skin
🎃
So while you're out getting your PSL fix, go ahead and schedule yourself a Pumpkin Spice facial

It’s completely justified....right?

I don't know about you, but MASKNE is kicking my butt 😫 I'm not even out enough for my mask to be affecting me so much but I have very reactive skin, so it has completely turned on me during quarantine. Here are some things that have helped me heal my skin through this trying time
😷
Skip makeup if you can help it. If you are going somewhere, where you won't be taking off your mask, don't wear any, or just do from the eyes up
😷
One thing I was doing wrong, was over-spraying my skin with my hydrating toner before I left the house. In combination with my heavy breathing, it was a party for bacteria to breed. Instead, use a light AHA or BHA serum under your moisturizer during the day to fight bacteria and excess oil production and hydrate well at night. The simpler your routine, the better right now
😷
If you are wearing a reusable mask (prevent waste!) make sure you are washing it every single day. I don't care if you only wore it to run to the store. Use a fragrance free detergent or a gentle face wash
😷
Cleanse thoroughly every day and night and mask weekly. I'd even do a mini facial with a treatment based mask that has acids in it or clay and then follow up with a nourishing and hydrating mask
😷
And like always DON'T TOUCH YOUR FACE. I also failed here 😐

I often get asked what vitamins you can take to help with your healthy skin journey
💊
I am not a doctor, so please check with your medical provider before going off and buying any supplements. I can only share my professional advice on what specific vitamins do for the skin. I am a firm believer that most of my nutrients should be coming internally through food, or topically through my skin care. My vitamins are just insurance to fill in any gaps
💊
Remember ACE rhymes with FACE. Vitamins A, C & E are my absolute favorite vitamins to have in my skin care. Vitamin A is represented in the retinols or alternatives you use to help promote healthy cell turnover and reduces pretty much everything from acne to hyperpigmentation and wrinkles. Vitamin C promotes collagen production (plump juicy skin) and also brightens and evens skin tone and discoloration. Vitamin E helps protect against oxidative stress which causes premature aging, soothes, heals and nourishing the protective barrier.
💊
Vitamin B! Biotin is one of the most popular skin ingredients which is actually B7. Biotin's translation comes from the Greek word "life" because of its contribution to healthy living cells, including but not limited to skin cells. Vitamin B skin benefits don't stop at Biotin. Many B vitamins are used in skin care. Niacin treats a variety of skin conditions such as dermatitis, acne, rosacea, eczema, dry, skin, and hyperpigmentation. Pantothenic Acid is also commonly used in skin care as a humectant that provides moisture to the skin
💊
You guys know I am an ingredient ju**ie and could literally go on and on about different vitamins and minerals but I'll stop here. Remember, none of these ingredients matter if you're not wearing SPF and if you're not taking care of your health.

Have you ever heard of SEA BUCKTHORN? Its quite a magical ingredient. Sea buckthorn is a berry native to Asia and Europe which contains 190 nutrients and phytonutrients. In fact, its vitamin C concentrations are 12 times higher than that of an orange 🍊Vitamin C is such a crucial ingredient for skin health because it helps to promote collagen production. Did you know that our bodies don't produce Vitamin C on their own?
Seabuckthorn is used in many beauty products, usually for its antioxidant and brightening power, but it packs so much more punch than that 👊🏼 It also contains Omega Fatty Acids, including Omega 7 which is not found in plant sources (yay Vegans!) Fatty acids are great sources of anti-inflammatory healers 💪🏼
Have you ever used a product with Sea Buckthorn in it? Do you like it? Share with me below

GINGER is one of my favorite ingredients! Not only do I love to cook with it because of its spicy flavor and killer health benefits like fighting nausea, cramping and even killing cancer cells, but I also love when I see it in my skin care
🧡
Ginger contains 40 anti-oxidant elements, which eliminate toxins in the skin and stimulating the circulation, resulting in the delivery of more nutrients. The antioxidants prevent damage from the free radicals, thus preserving the youthful appearance of the skin. It improves the elasticity, making your skin more firm and youthful. In this way, it slows down the signs of aging.
🧡
Ginger also has is anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory and anti-histamine properties which makes it an excellent ingredient for soothing and healing irritated or sensitized skin
🧡
My skin has needed some extra TLC lately and my go-to product is the Sleep It Off™ Retinol Alternative Anti-Aging Mask which is a natural Retinol Alternative nighttime treatment mask. that combines B Vitamins, Amino Acids, Blue Green Algae Extract and Ginger & Orange Extracts. It starts as a warming nighttime mask and transforms into a nourishing leave-on moisturizer. This is a safe, yet effective way to treat rough texture, loss of elasticity, dark spots and fine lines/wrinkles without side effects in only 3 weeks

Even though it’s in the 90’s here in Cali, it’s still Fall in my book and I’m sippin my homemade and prepping my skin for the weather change. Hydration and protection are my biggest priorities right now. If you suffer from melasma, you need to be extra cautious in this heat and keep as cool as possible to avoid flare ups. A good tyrosinase inhibitor (pigment preventer) will not only keep your pigmentation under wrap, but it will prep your skin well for peel season
🔥
Aside from retinol and hydroquinone which may be a little aggressive for some, my favorite tyrosinase inhibitors are L-Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) Rumex Extract, Azelaic Acid, Kojic Acid, Nonapeptide-1 and Alpha Arbutin
🔥
Let There Be Light 🙌🏼 by ClarityRX is an powehouse combination of hydroquinone free tyrosinase inhibitors including Nonapeptide-1, Rumex Extract and Alpha Arbutin
