Where does Hazelwood come from? Hazelwood is native to Canada and was first used by Aboriginal people centuries ago when they discovered the soothing benefits of placing hazelwood bark chips on their babies necks to ease teething pain

Taiga Teethers recommends adult supervision at all times when worn by infants and children. We also recommend removal at all sleep times. Parents may choose to wrap the necklace twice around the ankle and cover in pajamas so the child doesn't have access to the necklace but still benefits from the constant contact of the hazelwood. I use a steel wire coated in nylon that won't break with pulling on the necklace, however each necklace is designed with a clasp that WILL break away if enough tension is applied. As well as a stopper bead at each end of the necklace in the event that the necklace breaks the beads will not fall off of the string. Care of the necklace:
Necklaces may be worn during bath time but should never be worn in a chlorinated pool. When the ends of the hazelwood beads turn dark the wood has dried out and it is time to replace your necklace. Most families find they need to replace their necklaces anywhere from 3-6 months at a time depending on how often they are used and the level of acidity in the body. I recommend placing the necklace back in the bag while not in use to minimize drying out.
