Sadly another brewery destroyed in Ukraine by Putin's war.

Sounds like a great event!

We are excited to announce our first-ever Annafest here at Schilling! Annafest will take place one week from today on Friday, July 25. This event will run from 12pm-9pm in our Biergarten (open to the public).

Every July, the town of Forchheim, Germany celebrates Annafest—a legendary folk festival known for its exceptional Franconian beers and hearty fare, served straight from the forested beer cellars of Kellerwald in northern Bavaria. We’re thrilled to bring this beloved Franconian tradition to the brewery for the very first time!

What you can expect: A curated selection of German (and specifically, Franconian) inspired lagers on draft and poured “vom Holzfass” (from traditional pitch-lined gravity casks), from open to close. We’ll also enjoy Chef Bryan’s special BBQ pop-up in the Biergarten from 4–7PM.

Below are the beers that we are featuring for Annafest, with full pours and 1L Maß pours available for all options:

• Vorhe (Franconian-style Zwickelbier), on cask.
• Lehrerin (German-style Dortmunder), new release on cask. Collab with
• Schneeberg (Franconian-style Braunbier), on tap in the Biergarten.
• Zünden (German-style Smoked Schwarzbier), on tap in the Biergarten.
• Frtizy (Franconian-style Rotbier), on tap in the Biergarten.

Whether you enjoy classic German lagerbier or just looking to soak up the summer sun with great beer and food along the river, this is a celebration you won’t want to miss. Prost!

So sad to hear that it is the end for Wellspent Brewing Company in St. Louis, MO. I loved that place and always visited it once or twice while I was in town. The great beer, welcoming atmosphere, and the trivia will be missed. 😢

Another brewery calls it quits.

😭🥳🍻We are sad to share that it’s last call for IMBĪB. We will be closing our doors by the end of February as we wind down the company. It’s been a lot of fun being part of this community and industry, but our model is no longer viable.

We did what we set out to do. We made world-class, award-winning beer. We pushed the boundaries of beer, and we nailed some traditional styles. We shared our passion and knowledge with the community. We helped put the Nevada beer scene on the map. We gave to as many organizations as we could and tried to say yes as often as possible. We collaborated. We learned a lot. We started with nothing and made something out of it. We will pass the torch to our fellow breweries and let them carry on making the good stuff.

For the next few weeks, we will be offering some killer deals on our beer as we’d like to see it get appreciated and savored rather than dumped. Starting today all bottles and to-go crowlers are 50% off until we close the doors. Most of these beers will age gracefully for years to come. Next week we will have a killer deal on cases of cans as soon as we finish packaging the last few batches.

We will be throwing one last party on February 1…because we are going to go out with style. Stay tuned for details, but we sure hope to see many of you in the coming weeks. Please stop in and say goodbye and imbibe a few beers with us before we lock the doors for the last time. If you are feeling generous, tip your beertender as all of our employees will be looking for new opportunities.

In one more huge announcement/merger to send craft beer off in 2024, Mass Bay Brewing and FinestKind Brewing, LLC, parent companies of Harpoon Brewery and Smuttynose Brewing Company respectively, are combining forces under the umbrella of Barrel One Collective.

According to beer publication Brewbound, “Barrel One Collective is poised to become the largest maker of craft beer in New England and the 14th largest in the country by Brewers Association (BA) data. Combined, the brands produced 165,000 barrels of beer in 2023, according to the release.”

“Mass. Bay and FinestKind each bring a wide portfolio of brands to the new roll-up. Mass. Bay’s book includes Harpoon, UFO, Long Trail, Clown Shoes, Otter Creek, The Shed, Catamount, Dunkin’ Spiked and Right Coast Spirits, while FinestKind makes and sells Wachusett, Five Boroughs and Island District Cocktails, in addition to Smuttynose.”

Also, the collective will operate eight taprooms and brewery locations across four states, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont and New York.

Some good news. Some Cambridge Brewing Company beers will live on after the pub closes at the end of this week!

Some good news. Some Cambridge Brewing Company beers will live on after the pub closes at the end of this week!

🎉 Well folks, today is a special day for us. We’re thrilled to announce that the iconic Cambridge Brewing Company (CBC) brand has officially been acquired by Castle Island Brewing Company(CIBC). 🍻
For 35 years, CBC has been a cornerstone of the Boston beer scene and a massively impactful member of the American craft beer community. We began partnering with CIBC earlier this year to help meet draft demand for our legendary Amber Ale and Flower Child IPA, and when CBC founder Phil Bannatyne decided to retire, we received an overwhelming response from the public asking us to continue making our beers somehow. Phil reached out to CIBC with the hope that CBC’s legacy could live on, as both Phil and Brewmaster Will have a lot of respect for CIBC and feel the values and visions of our two companies align well.
“Our mission is to preserve everything fans love about CBC while slowly growing its reach” says Adam Romanow, founder and CEO of Castle Island. You’ll still be able to find CBC beers on tap at area bars and restaurants, plus at CIBC taprooms in Norwood and South Boston. Eventually, the hope is to get cans back on shelves throughout Greater Boston.
While our beloved Kendall Square brewpub is closing this week, there is reason to celebrate the future of CBC beer. We are thrilled the folks at CIBC have agreed to carry the torch and keep the spirit of CBC alive and thriving!

Can you believe it?! Our Final Day is THIS Friday (12/20)!

We’re still buzzing from last week, which was the 2nd busiest week in CBC history! Thank you for showing up, supporting us, and making these final days so special!

As we countdown to our last hurrah, we’re filled with gratitude for every smile, every cheers, and every unforgettable moment we’ve shared with all of you.

Let’s keep the energy up and make these last few days epic! Swing by, grab your favorite brews, and let’s celebrate the good times one last time! 🍻

Cheers to you, CBC family! We can’t wait to see you!

Woburn, MA, Lord Hobo Brewing Co and Portland, ME, Lone Pine Brewing Company plan to merge. I don't see this as benefiting either very much, but they hope it will save money on human resources and marketing.

Woburn-based craft brewer Lord Hobo Brewing is merging with Lone Pine Brewing, a Portland-Maine brewery, and will create a new ownership structure that encompasses both.

Interesting news about Urban Chestnut Brewing Company. They will try contracting out their food service to Sugarfire Smoke House. This could be a good thing, though I hope they continue selling some German food. Also mentioned in the article is that UCBC filing for bankruptcy in September. I hope they come out of it stronger. I’d hate to see them go. Tough times in the craftbeer industry.

Urban Chestnut Brewing Co. is switching things up at its brewery and bierhall kitchen in The Grove.
