Haviland, was born in Angola, Indiana and currently live in Garrett indiana I'm 58 years old and have had diabetes since I was 19 years old. I have diligently managed my diabetes, but over time the disease has ravished my kidneys and will soon have to go on dialysis. I recently visited the Mason Transplant Clinic at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. They have evaluated me for future kidney transplant. However, the waiting list for a kidney donation from a deceased person is 6-8 years. In the meantime, I am asking for a living donor. This donor can be related or unrelated and between the age of 18 and 60. There are many advantages of living donor transplants to include a better and long lasting kidney, scheduling of the transplant within 4-6 weeks; and, the fact that even if the kidney does not match mine, there is a paired donor exchange program where a matched donor at another program is exchanged for the donated kidney.
