Vitamin D3 “SECRET”
“Vitamin D3 is important because it helps the body absorb calcium and phosphorus, which are essential for building and maintaining healthy bones. It also supports immune function and plays a role in muscle and brain health.”
“According to the Cleveland Clinic, Vitamin D deficiency affects around 35% of U.S. adults.”
• Cleveland Clinic • Mayo Clinic
Have you noticed:
* Fatigue or low energy
* Weakened immunity
* Cranky mood
* Brittle bones
* Rapid aging
“You can get vitamin D3 from food, but FEW foods naturally contain it. The best sources are fatty fish, egg yolks, and fortified foods, as most people do not consume enough of these to meet their vitamin D needs.” • Yale Health
“Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) is considered more efficient than D2 (ergocalciferol) because it is more potent and has a longer duration of action in the body. Most people can effectively absorb both forms, but D3 is generally recommended for supplementation due
to its superior efficacy in raising and maintaining vitamin D levels in the blood.” • Columbia University
“Factors Affecting Nutritional Absorption
Certain factors can influence how well your body absorbs vitamin D from supplements:
* Fat Solubility: Vitamin D is fat-soluble, so taking it with a meal that contains fat can enhance absorption.
* Health Conditions: Conditions affecting fat absorption, such as Crohn's disease or celiac disease, can hinder the effectiveness of vitamin D supplements.
* Age and Skin Color: Older adults and individuals with darker skin may require more sun exposure or higher doses of supplements to achieve adequate vitamin D levels.
Ineffective Supplements
While most vitamin D supplements are beneficial, some may not provide adequate nourishment if:
* They are of low quality or poorly formulated.
* They contain D2 instead of D3, which may not be as effective for some individuals.
Consulting with a healthcare provider can help determine the best form and dosage of vitamin D for individual needs.” • Columbia University • Medicine Plus
“What factors contribute to the efficiency of vitamin D3 supplements?
The efficiency of vitamin D3 supplements can be influenced by factors such as the individual's absorption capacity, the presence of dietary fat, and the dosage taken. Additionally, factors like age, skin color, and overall health can affect how well vitamin D3 is utilized in the body.” • Mayo Clinic • National Institutes of Health
“Are there specific vitamin D3 supplements that are less effective for absorption?”
Some D3 supplements contain D2, even though they are labeled ‘D3’. As long as they have some D3 in the mix, they get away with labeling the entire product D3. Take the time to read your ingredient labels.
“Look for supplements that contain only vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) and avoid those with added sugar, artificial colors, or unnecessary ingredients.”

“Liquid vitamin D3 may absorb faster than pills or tablets because it bypasses the digestive process, making it easier for the body to utilize, especially for those with digestive issues or difficulty swallowing pills. It also allows for more customized dosing, which can be beneficial for children*, seniors, or individuals requiring specific amounts.”
*Our D3 is not recommended for children. Check with your health care specialist prior to giving this to children, or taking it yourself.

Here’s the “SECRET”…
“Vitamin K2 is important for vitamin D3 to be effective because it helps direct calcium into bones and away from arteries, supporting overall bone and heart health. Without K2, the calcium absorbed by D3 may not be properly utilized, potentially leading to issues like arterial calcification.”
• ubiehealth.com • symbiotic.com
K2 is usually not found in D3 vitamins & supplements. It is important to take K2. “To find vitamin K2, look for ‘menaquinone’ in food or supplement ingredients. It is commonly found in fermented foods and certain animal products.”
Read the ingredient labels. It should have “menaquinone” listed. Watch for added coloring & flavor (It’s not necessary!) 😆
