It has been a whole year since Jojo first went in to U of M for her abdominal mass. Today she is considered to be in remission and receives a MRI/CT scan every 3 months to keep a close eye on things. Over the fall months Jojo has done extremely well, she has put on a bunch of weight and is now strong and walking!

After battling enterovirus/rhinovirus again...scans finally happened Wed July 16th. We talked to doctors about them Monday, at this point they are extremely hopeful that Jojo is cancer free. She will have bloodwork repeated in 6 weeks and repeat scans again in 3 months. Doctors are hopeful her lungs will be clear of other disease at the time so they can really get a better look at her lungs. She is doing well now after having been quite sick most of June and into the beginning of July.

JoJo is continuing to do well overall and her story update will be airing on Fox 2 News Detroit between 5-6:30pm tonight!

Some challenges we faced since the last update included her broviac breaking to the point where it could no longer be repaired.

Blood cultures are always taken after the broviac breaks and the initial blood culture came back positive. It ultimately was determined it was a contaminant but had to start the whole regimen of IV antibiotics to be safe.

JoJo had to be sedated to have her broviac removed and then again to have a PICC line placed. This along with waiting for negative blood cultures pushed her chemo back.

Everything is still very day by day and we are usually at the hospital twice a week for labs and blood and platelet transfusions if needed.

JoJo continues to enjoy her time home playing with her sisters. With the nice weather recently we even made a brief venture to the park for some fresh air and sunshine for her. Today we are back at the hospital for her weekly appointment to check her blood cell counts and make sure she is doing well.

Jojo has had a wonderful time at home with her siblings and did very well the whole time. We are back at the hospital today to start chemo back up. She will be receiving a "cousin" of the cisplatin that she received before and we are hoping that it will be a little bit easier on her. She will also still get Doxorubicin
along with it.

At this point in time there is nothing left in JoJo's body on scans that can be definitely called cancer. The plan is to do three rounds of chemo to ensure that anything not visible on scans is also gone.

Hoping that the worst part of this journey is over.

Jojo gets to come today for the first time since January! She has done extremely well post-op and we are now 12 days out. It's the first time seeing her incision without the steri-strips and seeing how truly big it is. The tumor was really large.

She will return to the hospital Monday for her next round of chemo.
