As part of the Optavia mission, we (Jim with some assistance from Jennifer) are all about helping you live your best life. Everyone’s journey to get optimally healthy is different. Jennifer’s Personal Story: I was obese for over 20 years and then discovered I also had Multiple Sclerosis (M.S.). My disability was exacerbating my weight problems which were slowly getting worse year after year. I couldn’t exercise, I had no energy, I worked round-the-clock and had no time, I suffered from anxiety, and I got very little sleep. The fact is, I was on a fast track to getting worse in all these areas.
Then, my chiropractor introduced me to Dr. Wayne Scott Anderson, co-founder of Optavia. Once I heard how passionate he was about helping people, as well as the proven science behind the program, I signed up immediately (which was so unlike me, aka “Ms. Skeptical”). My first month went so well and I was so amazed that I was “totally sold.” I was 95-100% on program all through the holiday season and beyond. Instead of gaining another 10 pounds over the holidays, I went on to lose over 50 pounds that year despite my M.S. and inability to exercise at that time. Just as importantly, I gained more energy, more mobility, more confidence, more inspiration, and more friends & community. I learned how to eat for health, reduce inflammation, the importance of hydration, how to practice gratitude and work on my mindset, and so much more. Fast forward, I even started swimming again, something I hadn’t done in decades.
Key Moment: For me, it was when my 17 year old daughter said, “Mom, I can put my arms all the way around you. I’ve never been able to do that before.” What a great, memorable hug that was. Wow! She was so excited. And, it only gets better from there.
