The Emotional Fitness Studio is primarily an adult space but for the event on February 17th, we’re also opening the doors to any parents who want to come with their kids ages 12 and up 💛

Join us for a creative, reflective, and uplifting experience where you’ll build your own personalized “support” Jar filled with messages for yourself.

During the workshop, you’ll:
• Create at least 45 meaningful messages (one for each week until the end of the year)
• Choose the kind of jar you need right now:
• Gratitude Jar
• Strength Jar
• Positivity Jar
• Self-Support Jar
• Affirmation Jar
• Learn how to write supportive messages to yourself in a way that actually feels authentic

✨ This is a guided, structured session.
I’ll provide plenty of examples, prompts, and support, and we’ll work through the process together.

Think of it as spending intentional time while creating something meaningful for the future YOU.

You’ll leave with:
• A fully stocked Message Jar
• A simple, powerful weekly practice

Have you ever noticed how stress, worry, grief, or emotional exhaustion don’t just stay in your mind but settle into your body?

This is what we’ll be exploring at the next free event with the Emotional Fitness Studio in Annapolis.
Massage therapist Jules Warrior (who, by the way, is my massage therapist and someone I genuinely think is amazing) will be guiding this workshop on Wednesday, January 21st at 6:30 p.m.

In this experience, we’ll explore what happens when emotional and physical pain collide. We will take a compassionate, body-centered look at how prolonged emotional strain can show up as tension, aches, or discomfort, and how avoiding what hurts can sometimes make the pain louder.

This is an invitation to slow down and listen.
Through gentle energy work and therapeutic touch practices, you’ll learn how staying present with discomfort, rather than pushing it away, can help your body feel safer and begin to soften toward relief.

We’ll close with a guided meditation to help you integrate the experience and settle into calm. You’re welcome to remain seated or lie down on a yoga mat, whatever feels most supportive for your body.

✨ The Emotional Fitness Studio just hosted its first free event of the year ✨
…and it was the first of 35+ free events happening this year.

Tonight’s group included both familiar faces and three people who were brand new to the Emotional Fitness Studio.

Together, and with the guidance of the speaker, we explored the topic of emotional labor: the things we carry that often go unseen. Everyone received a 6-page worksheet to dive deeper, where we:
• Defined what emotional labor really is
• Identified the responsibilities and emotions we’re carrying
• Created a personal “map” of the emotional weight in our lives

Our guest speaker, Kristin, then guided a beautiful release practice/meditation acknowledging what we’re holding and gently releasing what no longer needs to be carried.

One powerful reminder from the night:
Some of the things we carry were never meant to be ours… and even the ones that are, we don’t have to carry them alone.

As always, participants shared anonymous feedback, and a few takeaways really stood out:
✨ “We all have similar challenges, and we can positively influence our emotional weight.”
✨ “I didn’t realize how much extra weight everyone is carrying and how invisible it can be.”
✨ “I was reminded of the importance of pausing and reflecting on what I can and cannot control.”

This is exactly why the Emotional Fitness Studio exists: to create space to pause, reflect, release, and reconnect.

The worrying, the caretaking, and holding everything together for others can weigh heavily on us without anyone noticing.

The forst workshop on Tuesday will explore the emotional load we carry and how it shows up in our body, thoughts, and daily life. Through gentle grounding exercises, creative mapping, small group connection, and a guided release practice, we will have a chance to see what we have been holding and practice letting go of what is not ours to carry alone.

The local provider guiding this event is Kristin Whiting-Davis, LCSW-C a licensed clinical social worker. It is her first time as a speaker with The Emotional Fitness Studio.
