As a child and adolescent mental health counselor, I’d like to share my personal story that shapes the work I do every day. This all began with my nephew, Jeremiah Rock, who tragically passed away unexpectingly in 2017 at just 10 years old. Before his passing, I witnessed a profound and heartbreaking shift in his mental health. I saw him in an emotional state that no child should ever have to experience—one of pain, confusion, and sadness.
It was during those difficult times with Jeremiah that I made a promise to myself: I never want another child to feel the way he did. The pain of losing him has become my driving force, transforming into a purpose to help others. Every day, I see my work as an opportunity to honor Jeremiah’s memory and to live out the life he was not able to, by being there for other children and teenagers who need support.
Here is how I can help your child:
1. Individual Therapy for Children and Teens: Compassionate, one-on-one sessions tailored to help your child navigate their emotions and challenges. This can be talking things out, emotional gaming, art, music, Marvel movies, anime, etc.
2. Family Therapy: Collaborative sessions with both parent and child, designed to strengthen family bonds, improve communication, and resolve conflicts.
3. School-Based Sessions: Therapy sessions at your child’s school, ensuring they get the help they need without missing a beat in the classroom. This can be coordinated based on location and your child's school schedule.
4. IEP and 504 Plan Support: Collaboration with schools to create and implement accommodations that help your child succeed academically and emotionally.
5. Parent Support and Guidance: Providing you with the tools and resources to support your child’s mental health journey.
I have experience working with children and teens facing a range of challenges, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, anxiety, depression, grief, family difficulties, behavioral disturbances, and more. Each child’s journey is unique, and I’m here to provide the precise, personalized care they need to thrive.
My practice is deeply rooted in empathy and understanding, shaped by the experiences I had with Jeremiah. I believe in turning pain into purpose, and each day I strive to help children and teens find hope, healing, and a brighter future.
