☘️ The color of breast milk can change depending on the lactating parent’s diet - it’s totally normal to have a variation of colors.

☘️ Yes, breast milk can also be blue, yellow, orange, or pink!

☘️ Green breast milk can be from eating dark green vegetables, like kale or spinach, and foods with green food coloring.

☘️ Note: this is referencing the colors of breast milk only. If you are seeing green discharge from the breast, that should be evaluated by a professional.

❎ There have been lots of parents sharing they pumped green milk after getting covid! There is currently no evidence to support this claim. Green breast milk is more common than you think - anyone with or without covid can produce green milk! 🤷🏻‍♀️

☘️ Have you seen green breast milk before?

! I finally started seeing my first clients as a lactation consultant! This IBCLC day and this time of my career made me reflect on how I got here and how things are going now 👇

4 years ago, I made the decision to enroll in a lactation educator program to learn what this profession was about because honestly, I had no idea! And during the program, I knew for sure I wanted to further my education to be an IBCLC.

⭐️ What's the difference?

⭐️ Lactation educators provide general education around breastfeeding. They teach classes or counsel on why breastfeeding is important, how to get breastfeeding started, etc.

⭐️ Lactation consultants are trained to provide clinical management of lactation and breastfeeding. You'll want to talk to an IBCLC if breastfeeding is painful, your baby is not eating well or gaining weight, or how to increase or decrease your milk supply safely, among many other things.

⭐️ Both play important roles in breastfeeding support, but IBCLCs are definitely more hands-on!

I've also gotten a lot of comments about my Instagram page (which I'm having a hard time being active on lol)! Many of my friends follow me and although you aren't actually breastfeeding or even have kids yet, I've been told that my content is interesting and you wouldn't have known about it.

I love hearing this because more people should know about breastfeeding! I want to eventually share more uncommon and interesting facts that not a lot of people talk about, but social media will be taking a lower priority as I start to see more clients for now!

Meanwhile, email or DM me if you're interested in getting breastfeeding education or a lactation consult ✨

The color of breast milk can change based on the medications and foods we eat! And yes, colors like green, blue, orange, or pink can be variations of normal and may not be related to covid 🤷🏻‍♀️

There has been a viral picture going around the Internet of a mother saying that her breast milk turned green when she and her baby tested positive for COVID. So is green breast milk really an indication of COVID?

👉🏻 [SWIPE] to see what medications can decrease your milk supply 😶

Although Antihistamines and Pseudoephedrines can be compatible and safe for breastfeeding, they can still affect your milk supply 👇

💊Antihistamines are commonly sold as brands like Benadryl, which is a sedating antihistamine that many people use for allergies. It is considered safe for breastfeeding but can lead to a decrease in milk supply when used long-term. In some cases, babies have been observed to become more drowsy, which can lead to a drop in milk consumption and subsequently, your milk supply too.

💊Psuedoephedrine, sold as Psuedofed or Sudafed, has been shown to significantly reduce milk production and can actually be effective in decreasing milk supply for those with overproduction. If you are struggling with a low milk supply, this medication would not be recommended for you.

Milk & Grow was an idea I had probably since September 2020.

I remember thinking I wanted to start a blog to share all the information I know to be more credible in this profession. I wasn’t ready to see clients since I didn’t receive my credential yet, but I knew eventually that day will come. 😉

Starting from January 2021, I spent nights and nights googling literally EVERYTHING to prepare me to start Milk & Grow. It wasn’t until August that I was finally ready to start my Instagram, and October was when I published my website.

The meaning behind Milk & Grow’s name focuses on milk for infant feeding to support infant and toddler growth. The daisy icon symbolizes innocence, childbirth, motherhood, and new beginnings, (and it is also my favorite flower!)

👉🏻 If you are a new mama or mom-to-be, email/DM me for an appointment for a lactation consult or to learn about the basics of breastfeeding before your baby arrives.

👉🏻 Follow me on Facebook, TikTok, and Pinterest to stay connected with me!

This is just the beginning! See you in 2022 🥳

P.S. I hope this inspires you to start doing what you want to do. And if you are working on something, I’d love to hear your story, because hearing from others was what kept me going. 🙂

🙏🏼 Lastly thank you .xo for this beautiful logo. I highly recommend her for anyone needing branding or design needs. She’s super nice and easy to work with!

Breastfeeding your baby can be so convenient especially when you’re traveling - no coolers, no pumps, no cleaning tools! The closeness you provide through breastfeeding can help soothe your baby from traveling pains and discomfort too. 👶

⏰ Dedicate time in your schedule to breastfeed every 2-3 hours.

Traveling can make your schedule unpredictable, but make sure not to spread your feedings too far apart to keep your baby happy and avoid feeling engorged.

⚠️ Pay attention to hunger cues and breastfeed on demand when possible.

Your little one will react to changes in routine and might demand milk at unusual times, even at every hour. Knowing what your baby’s hunger cues are will allow their needs to be met, especially when they are in an environment they are not used to.

☝️ Know your rights but respect other cultures.

*Do not be apologetic about choosing to breastfeed your baby!* BUT you may want to keep in mind that some countries are more conservative, or have local standards and/or cultural norms in regards to breastfeeding in public areas.
