Jenny's Kloset

Jenny's Kloset Cancertacular is a 501(c)3 non-profit for childhood cancer in NEPA. We also purchase bread through donations and deliver 2 loaves to each family every 2 weeks.

Jenny’s Kloset is devoted exclusively to fulfilling essential needs-food and clothing- of Valley View School District students and their families, one box and dream at a time. Jenny's Kloset is a program devised by Cancertacular board members and Valley View School District officials. We collect donations, non-perishable food, gently used clean clothing and personal hygiene items. To date, we have identified 17 Valley View Elementary Center families, through the free/reduced lunch program. We have personally delivered about 200 boxes of food and 240 loaves of bread since June. Our goal is eventually offer this program to the entire Valley View School District. Thanks to the support of our amazing community, our goal is sure to become a reality.

Our Story

Tina Jezuit was diagnosed with bone cancer at age 11 in 1988. 14 months of chemo and 5 surgeries brought many latent effects, including heart failure and a massive stroke. Tina and her sister Jillian knew how fortunate the outcome of their journey was. They wanted to give back to the very same community that stood behind them - their village.

In August 2008, Cancertacular, Inc. was born, founded by the sister duo. It is NEPA’s neighborhood for childhood cancer, serving Lackawanna, Luzerne, and the 5 surrounding counties. To date, over 50 families have been served by the 501(c)3 non-profit.

Around Christmas of 2015, they realized that while reminding these kids to laugh after a cancer diagnosis, and spoiling them in the process, was important work. But, Tina and Jill also wanted the children to understand that they had much to give back. After a lengthy discussion, it was decided that the group would collect canned goods, bringing a non-perishable item to each Cancertacular event.

By Spring 2016, they filled nearly half of a garage! Along with Maria Kishel, principal of Valley View Elementary, Cancertacular board members set out to feed hungry children in Valley View School District. In May of 2016, boxes of food were delivered to 6 families. The criteria was to be enrolled in Valley View and qualify for either free or reduced lunch.
