We’re excited to welcome Dr. Carryl P. Navalta! Dr. Navalta is a licensed clinical psychologist who works with children, adolescents, and their families, as well as adults. His areas of expertise are problems with anxiety, depression, disruptive/oppositional behavior, and traumatic stress. He also has significant experience with attention/hyperactivity, autism spectrum, obsessive/compulsive, and mood problems. Dr. Navalta provides treatments and interventions that are backed by strong scientific evidence, namely CBT, parent training & guidance, emotion regulation training, exposure-based treatment, Trauma Systems Therapy, and Applied Behavior Analysis.

Dr. Bethany Shikatani will be leading a complimentary CE event on March 23rd at 12pm, providing practical and skills-based learning for mental health professionals on the topic of perfectionism. Topics will include: defining perfectionism and its domains, discussing perfectionism’s association with other difficulties, presenting the CBT model of perfectionism, and conceptualizing perfectionism as a maintenance factor of various psychological difficulties. Assessment strategies and CBT treatment skills of cognitive restructuring and changing perfectionistic behaviors including procrastination will be taught in detail, followed by a Q&A.

By the end of the presentation, you should be able to assess perfectionism in patients presenting with various psychopathology, apply the CBT model of perfectionism, and provide empirically-supported cognitive behavioral strategies for perfectionism.
