This we’re honoring the legacy of Jimmy Carter and his work for people with disabilities.

After overseeing the implementation of our country’s first civil rights bill protecting people with disabilities, Carter became an advocate for the community, establishing the National Council on Disability.

He continued to promote inclusion after his presidency ended by increasing access to voting and outdoor athletics for people with disabilities.

Jimmy Carter’s story demonstrates that presidents serve an important role in advocating for people with disabilities!
