Greetings ~ We are in the process of changing telephone service. At this moment, we do not have the ability for you to reach us. We are working on getting this resolved. We will still have the same Office phone number: 209-795-1470. We are in the Office during our normal business hours. This photo from 1902 shows French knife grinders. They would work on their stomachs in order to save their backs from being hunched all day.

They were also encouraged to bring their dogs to work to keep them company and also act as mini heaters by having them rest on their owners’ legs.

They were also called ventres jaunes (“yellow bellies” in English) because of the yellow dust that would be released from the grinding wheel.

It looks like another ‘snow day’ here in Arnold. We’re still waiting for the big scooper to dig out the berm behind the cars. What cars? Where are the cars?
We hope to be back in the Office tomorrow. Grateful for our power and the sunshine. 🌞
