                                            We are in emotional times right now.
How you experience the upheavals of the world depends a lot on how well you have processed your emotions in the past.
As you may have heard before, I like to quote the well-known psychotherapist Sigmund Freud as saying, “Unexpressed emotions never die, they just reemerge in darker and uglier ways.”
Basically, this means if you haven’t dealt with your emotions in the past, they don’t just go away…they fester and show up in even less pleasant ways than the original emotions.
There are 3 ways this emotional energy is going to express:
1)  It will leak out sideways. This shows up as moods that don’t match the spirit of the others around you at the time, or strange reactive or idiosyncratic behaviors. Or emotions that pop up unexpectedly and out of place. Depression, high anxiety and confusion around current events are also ways emotions express in a leaky fashion.
2)  The emotional energy suppressed inside will build and build and build, until….BOOM! they all come out at once in a dramatic explosion that is way more severe than the situation warrants. We see this in the news all the time, especially with anger, where someone does something dramatic and often fatal to others and/or themselves because the explosive emotions were out of their control.
Or,
3)  You can find a way to acknowledge and harmoniously address the emotional energy within you in a systematic and effective manner.
Plain and simple, working with emotions in the  #3 way is a large part of what I help people do in my practice.
