Over the past few weeks, our mindfulness group has been reflecting on "The Five Invitations," a powerful guide 🌿 to living with presence, compassion, and courage.

Rooted in Frank Ostaseski’s work with those at the end of life, this book reminds us that the lessons death offers aren’t only about the end; they’re about how we choose to live now.

Each invitation calls us back to what truly matters: slowing down šŸ•Šļø , welcoming everything, showing up with our whole selves, and remembering that life is fragile, sacred, and always unfolding in this very moment.

This 1-minute book trailer for The Five Invitations šŸ“– is a great overview if you are considering adding this title to your reading list:Ā» https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mUQ53TGkuhQ

"How do I start meditating?" I get asked this question frequently, right up there with the declaration, "I can't meditate, I have too many thoughts."
The good news is, you can just start where you are! No matter WHERE you are! When your life is just as messy as the back of your car, when things aren't going your way, or when they are! Join us, Friday mornings at 10am for drop-in meditation with Denver Public Library. And no, you do NOT need to live in Denver - anyone is welcome! - https://mailchi.mp/f10d913671ed/arrive-here-14183285

What is a Wise Womanā‰ļø

She’s not just a character from myth or history. She lives within you!

In Traditional Chinese Medicine and many healing traditions, the Wise Woman is the archetype of deep knowing. She listens closely to the body, the cycles of nature, the inner voice that modern life often drowns out.

She doesn’t chase fads. She honors intuition.
She doesn’t demand perfection. She trusts her process.
She embraces rest, ritual, and rhythm.

At Arrive, we believe every woman holds this wisdom. It’s not something you have to earn, it’s something you ✨ remember.

As poet David Whyte writes:

ā€œTo become human is to become visible, while carrying what is hidden as a gift to others.ā€

Your body carries gifts. Your story carries wisdom. You are already the Wise Woman. 🌿 Let’s help you return to her. Have a look at our coaching options. >> https://arrive-here.com/services/ -wellness-consultations

Let’s talk science for a moment!

Chronic pain isn’t always about damage—it’s often about messaging.

Your nervous system stores patterns.

When pain becomes chronic, it’s often because the body’s ā€œalarm systemā€ is stuck in the ON position.

The great news? This can change.

Mindfulness is one of the most evidence-supported ways to calm the nervous system, bring awareness to emotional patterns, and retrain the pain response.

This summer, I’m offering an 6-week Mind/Body Pain Reduction course that brings science and mindfulness compassion together.

šŸ™‹ Message me if you want more info—or tag someone this might help.

Living with chronic āŒ pain that just won’t go away?

Maybe you’ve tried everything—medications, tests, therapies—and it still lingers.

Our pain is real. And sometimes, so is the unseen layer beneath it: old stress, unprocessed emotions, ingrained thought patterns that keep the nervous system on high alert.

Join Lisa for Mindfulness-Based Pain Reduction, a 6-week experiential course blending Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) with mind-body research on chronic pain.

This isn’t about denying pain. It’s about turning toward it with curiosity, compassion, and skillful awareness; discovering new pathways to relief, resilience, and ease.

Over 6 weeks, you’ll learn to:
ā˜‘ Observe pain without resistance
ā˜‘ Understand the link between thoughts, emotions, and physical symptoms
ā˜‘ Soothe the nervous system with breath and body-based practices
ā˜‘ Cultivate self-compassion as a tool for healing
ā˜‘ Reconnect with a sense of agency and ease through gentle movement

For anyone living with chronic physical ⚔ pain, especially if you sense there’s more to your pain than just a structural diagnosis.

šŸ—“ļø Monday evenings on Zoom, starting August 11.
šŸ’› Led by Lisa Lowe, certified mindfulness teacher and experienced chronic pain clinician.

šŸ¦ It’s National Ice Cream Day, and yes, we’re celebrating. And giving a big shout-out to our friend Pete Castleberry and his new shop in Olde Town Arvada: Power Cone!
Soft-serve made with organic milk, organic sugar, and lots of love.

At Arrive, we often talk about food as medicine, and sometimes, that medicine is šŸ˜‹ joy.

There are seasons when it’s wise to avoid things like dairy, sugar, or gluten… and there are seasons when a treat can be savored with full presence and pleasure.

If you’re in a place where a little indulgence feels right, go for the really good stuff, crafted with intention, quality ingredients, and community care.

Power Cone is just that: a small local business run by a neighbor and friend, with a socially conscious team and a whole lot of heart.

Stop by The Power Cone Arvada Soft Serve and enjoy the 🧔 sweetness.

Q: Acupuncture is just a placebo, right? šŸ¤”

A: Many people assume that acupuncture only works because patients believe it does. In reality, scientific šŸ“š studies have shown that acupuncture stimulates the nervous system, releases endorphins, and influences brain activity—leading to real, measurable effects on pain, inflammation, and overall health.

Lisa’s summer reading šŸ“–: The Life of Charlie—a heartfelt story about an ordinary man who lived an extraordinary 109 years.

Charlie’s life spanned two world wars, Vietnam, the rise of jazz, disco, and streaming, and more seasons of change than most of us can imagine. What stayed with Lisa most wasn’t just the events he witnessed, but how he lived.

With curiosity. With kindness. With deep attention to what mattered.
A long life, YES, but more importantly, a present one.

His story reminds us: longevity isn’t just about adding years, it’s about filling those years with meaning, connection, and care for self and others.

Here’s to living with that kind of presence, no matter if we have 39 or 109 candles šŸŽ‚ on the cake.

And a deep thank you to my friend who sent me this book, and now I'm sharing šŸ’ž it with all of you.

Have you tried any of these mindful movement practices? Each one has deep cultural roots and offers a pathway to reconnect with your body, calm the mind, and restore balance from within:

šŸ§˜ā€ā™€ļø Yoga
A practice of breath, movement, and stillness that strengthens the body while calming the nervous system. Yoga supports flexibility, balance, emotional regulation, and connection to self.

šŸŒ¬ļø Qigong
A gentle, flowing practice rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine that cultivates life force energy (Qi). It improves circulation, reduces stress, and enhances overall vitality and immune function.

šŸŒ€ Tai Chi
Often called "meditation in motion," tai chi is a slow, graceful martial art that promotes balance, coordination, joint mobility, and mental clarity. It's especially supportive for aging well and improving proprioception.

šŸš¶ā€ā™‚ļø Walking Meditation
This intentional, mindful walk invites presence with each step. Practiced slowly and often outdoors, it reduces stress, supports mental clarity, and deepens the connection between body and breath.

Which of these practices calls to you today? Let us know in the comments—or better yet, carve out a few quiet minutes to try one. Your nervous system will thank you.
