100 Classes: Celebrating Jamie 🌟

The energy at Ebb + Flow wouldn’t be the same without Jamie. As one of our dedicated Karma Yogis, she is the steady hand behind the scenes: ensuring the studio is spotless, the oracle card spreads are perfectly placed, and those signature lavender towels are chilled to perfection for Savasana. This week, she reached a beautiful milestone of 100 classes on the mat.

Jamie is pictured here in Urdhva Dhanurasana (Upward-Facing Bow). Physically, this is a demanding backbend that requires significant strength and the discipline to stay present even when the pose feels intense. Energetically, it is a powerful heart-opener that clears the central channel of the body, allowing vitality to move from the core outward to the world.

Jamie doesn’t just practice her yoga on the mat; her practice extends into every corner of the studio through her Karma Yoga. This is the yoga of action: a heart-centered service rooted in both compassion and a deep sense of discipline. It takes real internal strength to show up consistently and do the selfless work necessary for a community to thrive. Whether she is holding this pose or managing the small details that make the studio feel like home, Jamie puts that heart-centered discipline into motion.

Jamie, thank you for your hard work, the way you care for this community, and for being such a vital part of this family. Congratulations on 100 classes!

Leave some love for Jamie in the comments! 👇✨

Allow us to reintroduce ourselves. 👋🏽

I’m Katie, co-owner of Ebb + Flow. For 20 years, yoga has been my anchor, but this studio wouldn’t exist without my brother and co-owner, Tylor.

I was adopted as a baby and grew up thinking I was an only child. An Ancestry test changed everything, leading me to Tylor. Despite growing up apart, we bonded over a weekly yoga practice. Those sessions sparked the vision for Ebb + Flow. Tylor provides the structure and momentum; I provide the creative heart and teaching. It’s our version of sthira and sukha: the perfect balance of effort and ease.

We’ve built a sanctuary that honors yoga’s roots while embracing modern energy. You don’t have to choose between the sweat and the soul, we’ve made room for both.

Our Three Pillars:

✨ Balance: We believe you shouldn’t have to choose one extreme over the other. Life is a constant ebb and flow, and we need both the fiery challenge of a hot class and the softness of surrender. We’ve created a space where you can build both physical strength and mental stillness, enjoying loud, fun music while still honoring the deep, quiet roots of the practice.

✨ Going Deeper: Our classes are designed to be more than just a workout. We don’t stop at the physical practice; we aim to strengthen your body, mind, and soul. By incorporating meditation, breathwork, and yogic philosophy, we ensure every session is a holistic experience that stays true to the source.

✨ Connection: We are built on the idea of Sangha: the ancient word for community. We believe the practice doesn’t end on the mat, so we’ve designed our lounge as a place to find your people. Whether you’re browsing our books or sharing a cup of tea by the fireplace, this is a space to build real relationships.

Our mission is to make yoga more than a workout. It is a place to find balance, a place to deepen your practice, and a place to form connections with yourself and your community.

Have you found your flow with us yet? Click the link in our bio to book your first class and join the community.

Huge congratulations as well to Lulu for hitting the 100-class milestone! 🥂

Lulu chose Eka Pada Raja Kapotasana (one-legged king pigeon pose) to mark the occasion- a shape named after the Sage Kapota, who was said to possess an incredible vitality and the spirit of a bird. In Sanskrit, Kapota translates to pigeon, which carries a beautiful bit of symbolism. The pigeon was revered for its ability to travel great distances with a singular focus, always possessing the “homing instinct” to find its way back to its center.

In the context of yoga, the “King” version of this pose represents royal mastery, not over a kingdom, but over your own internal state. It’s a deep, complex hip and heart opener that requires you to stay steady and breathe through the intensity until you find your way back to your center, your “home.”

That’s exactly the energy Lulu brings to the studio. Reaching 100 classes is the ultimate proof of that homing instinct; no matter how far life pulls her in other directions, she always finds her way back to the mat. It’s been a pleasure watching her build that kind of consistency and dedication over the past year.

Lulu, we are so proud of the work you’ve put in. Here’s to the next 100! ✨

100 classes in the books for Joshua! 🎉

It is pretty fitting that Josh chose Sirsasana (headstand) to mark his 100th class.

Known as the “King of Asanas,” this pose is about way more than just balancing upside down.
By reversing the pull of gravity, it helps draw our energy away from the “survival mode” centers of the body, where we store daily stress and repetitive habits, and directs it toward the higher centers of awareness in the brain. By physically stimulating the crown, it helps clear the “mental fog,” making it the ultimate pose for cultivating a quiet, meditative mind.

That’s exactly the energy Josh brings to the studio. He’s a dedicated student of the physical practice, but he’s just as committed to the internal work in our weekly meditation and dharma talks. Josh has a way of taking that sharpened focus from the mat and using it to spark the kind of provocative questions that push the whole room to look at the teachings from a different angle.

Reaching 100 classes is a huge milestone, but for Josh, it feels like just the beginning of peeling back those deeper layers.

Josh, thanks for the insight and the steady presence you bring to every session. We’re stoked to see where you take your practice from here.

Here’s to the next 100. ✨

100 CLASSES! Let’s go, Kira! 🥂

Shoutout to for hitting her 100th class milestone this past weekend. 🥳 We had to share this shot of her absolutely crushing Ganda Bherundasana (Chin Stand).

In Hindu mythology, this pose is named after a powerful two-headed bird. One head looks toward the past, and the other looks into the future, a symbol of total awareness.

To hold this shape, you need a “formidable” amount of strength (Bherunda literally means formidable), but it also requires an heart open and steady mind.

That’s exactly why this is the perfect pose to celebrate Kira’s 100th class. Reaching a milestone like this is all about that dual awareness, looking back at how much she’s grown since her very first class, while having the strength and vision to look forward to what’s next with an open heart and steady mind.

Kira, your dedication to taking your practice deeper inspires all of us. We are so proud of the energy you bring to the studio!

Here’s to the next 100. ✨
