Yin Yoga is a natural balance to all of your “yang” activities providing a meditative practice using gentle, longer-held postures to allow for deep opening in the connective tissues of the hips, pelvis, and spine! This non-heated practice focuses on connective tissue ~ benefiting the hips, knees, spine, shoulders, and your general flexibility. Although challenging, the longer held postures imbue a feeling of balance, calm and bliss!

We hope this message finds you and your family happy and healthy. We are patiently awaiting permission from the Governor and working diligently to prepare YogaShak to (hopefully) re-open very soon! Many of you have contacted us asking if we will be opening on May 8th. Unfortunately, that date has not been set in stone by our Governor, but we promise to announce our re-opening as soon as we know the date we are allowed to open.

In the meantime, we have created a video library of pre-recorded yoga and meditation classes that are available 24/7 to better serve you. So, if (like us) you have a few distractions throughout your day, you can still squeeze in some time for self-care. Things will have a different look and feel from the MindBody software, but we know you are going to love the features and ease of use!

Let today serve as a reminder that we must care for our planet, as we find ourselves within the constraints of Covid-19 it may seem hard to make a difference–but there's so much love to give to our home! Today can be so much more than a temporary silver lining for the environment. Because your breathing is important! 💜

1. From a comfortable seat, sit tall and rest your hands on your thighs.

2. Softly close your eyes and begin drawing in a slow inhale through your nose allowing your belly to expand (using the diaphragm) with only little or no chest movement.

3. Once your lungs have filled completely and your belly has expanded to its fullest, hold your breath for 6-12 seconds or try counting this length in your head slowly.

4. Exhale thru your mouth allowing for the belly to draw up and in to express all the air out.

5. When your stomach is contracted and the lungs are completely empty repeat this process!
