As I watched the sun rise this morning, I reflected on Philippians 4:8. "Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy, meditate on these things." My goodness, did that verse speak to me! I reflected on the state of my mind. As COVID-19 spread through our land, was I was giving it too much attention ? Was I spending appropriate time in prayer, praise, and worship? I am not minimizing the horrible impact of this virus, but I want to maximize putting my trust in God. I will continue to take appropriate precautions, but I want to be mindful about things that are true, lovely, and of good report. How can I change my focus? What is of good report? I can be thankful for those who are working in healthcare, and I can pray for them. I can look outside and thank God for the natural beauty, and then go for a walk. I can realize that, if I have more free time than usual, I can put that time to good use.
What does it mean, in my life, to put time to good use? Read more, exercise, organize the pantry, write, FaceTime people I love, walk the dogs. Watch podcasts that I have been meaning to watch. Enjoy silly movies on TV. Put a puzzle on the table and spend time with the family creating memories.
I am writing a list of goals this morning, and will hold myself accountable. One day, I want to be able to look back on this time and see that it was put to good use.
Will you join me? Do you have some goals to meet? Ideas to share? Words of hope and encouragement? Feel free to reach out. We can do this. Let's do it together, even if the togetherness is virtual.
Blessings to you all,
Lori
