Great ideas for language modeling for Fall!
🍂🍁It's FALL! And shockingly, it actually feels like it here in Texas! One of my favorite fall activities is going on walks, so I thought I'd combine it with some tips for Modeling Language! I talk a lot about modeling language rather than repeatedly quizzing kids (It's just NOT natural communication!), so next time you are out, try making comments and sharing experiences instead of asking "what's this?" If you child knows the word "dog", add to it by saying "the dog is barking!" or "I hear a dog!" Show them how they can comment and even ask social questions- "burrrr it's cold! Whoa, did you feel the wind? Yeah? Me too!" We want talking and communicating to be fun (not always hard work) and learning while enjoying the outdoors is a perfect way to do this! What are your favorite fall activities?! 👇🏼👇🏼

What a terrific song to use this month!! Following directions while having fun!
This action rhyme will be perfect for October!
A child who sleeps well renews their body at a cellular level and is better able to attend, self regulate and learn! Snoring is a red flag that something is going on!
DON'T IGNORE THE SNORE!
If your child snores, its worth checking out.
A 2012 study from the International Journal of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology found that children who snored appeared to suffer impairment in neurocognitive and behavioral functions compared to non-snoring children, even if they didn't have Obstructive Sleep Apnoea, hypopnea or marked drops in oxygen.
Thats a fancy way of saying if your child snores, even if its not a sign of a serious sleep disorder like Obstructive Sleep Apnoea, it still can be affecting their concentration, learning and behaviour.
So don't ignore the snore!
If your child snores and/or you're concerned about their sleep or daytime function at school, concentration or behaviour, make an appointment to speak with your doctor.
You'll all sleep better at night.

The office staff at Ped Dentistry of South Riding is fantastic! Last dental check up, I mentioned to Diane that I take the empty containers and use them to hide little objects for speech. I walked in today to find a bag of them she saved for TeachSpeech! Thank you!!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Our myofunctional assessment always begins with airways, it's the foundation of our work. Proper breathing (nasal breathing) is essential to your child's health, development and also educational success. When we sleep, we restore and heal our bodies. If a child isn't sleeping well and doesn't receive the proper oxygen to their brain and cells... this is a BIG problem and we must address this first!

As a prolonged child thumbsucker myself, I know the impact that this habit can have on overall mouth development. Utilizing my training as an orofacial myofunctional therapist combined with additional specialized training in finger and thumb sucking elimination, I decided to open a clinic specifically to help children eliminate these oral habits.
Prolonged thumbsucking and pacifier use can not only hinder mouth development but speech, feeding, communicating and social stigma may also create problems for some families.
This program not only assists children to stop sucking their thumb or finger, but it builds confidence and motivation. We are now accepting new clients, give us a call to find out more. https://teachspeechtherapy.com/stop-thumbsucking/

At Teachspeech we utilize our client’s strengths to elevate their weaknesses. We know that different is not deficient.
Jonathan Mooney was always the slow kid in class. Called 'stupid' and 'lazy' most of his life, he believed that because he was different, he was deficient.
A little humor on this rainy day. Having the tongue in proper resting position helps your little one's face develop appropriately. If your child can't put their tongue on the "spot" ... let's find that reason why! An oromyofunctional evaluation can be the first step in finding out if your child's structure and function are developing as they should.
❤️ Beautiful. ❤️ An amazing SLP helps this child find his voice again. These magical moments are why we do what we love! #youaregonnacry
That speech pathologist lady is amazing. . .🤗💖
Does your child present with symptoms such as inattentiveness, hyperactivity, aggression, behavioral problems, excessive sleepiness, difficulty waking up in the morning, learning problems, frequent awakening at night, restless sleep, morning headaches, and nocturnal enuresis." Guess what? ??These signs may not be ADHD, laziness or a mental health issue. Sleep apnea can the culprit. More and more I am seeing these cases in my practice and referring out to specialists that can help.

Our myofunctional therapy can correct that low tongue resting posture which inhibits proper facial development. Our goal is to help grow healthy mouths and faces! It all begins with foundation of a proper resting position. Find out more: https://teachspeechtherapy.com/orofacial-myology/
A low tongue rest posture habit can be lasting even if the causative factors are corrected ie. Tongue tie has been released or nasal breathing has been established. Myofunctional therapy can help correct the tongue resting position - creating better habits for better health.
