Are You at Risk? Know Your Number! Inflammation is how your body responds to defend itself against toxins. Chronic inflammation occurs when the body is under constant attack from various toxins - some of which you have control over and some you do not. Every day toxic stressors bombard your body. Oxidative Stress and Free Radicals: The Silent Killers December 5th, 2018 Did you know that there were two types of inflammation, acute and chronic? Acute inflammation is where you have an injury to an area and it inflames, you have tissue damage. Chronic inflammation is a state where your body is at or above inflammatory threshold. It is a systemic thing, whole body. When you get a person who is in a high inflammatory state and an acute inflammatory episode occurs it is like throwing gasoline on a fire. I would argue that that is the thing we have the least control over is that inflammatory state. People in a heightened inflammatory state will have a bigger reaction of pain and it will linger longer.” “What are causes of the chronic inflammatory state?” Genetics – “yes but it is a factor that we cannot control” Disease – “yes, but we also have a chicken and egg situation there” Habits Diet Drugs Environmental – air, water Occupational Emotional – stress and cortisol Bio toxins – yeasts, molds and fungus Sleep Lifestyle choices – smoking, obesity, sun stress, alcohol, dining out “Are we in agreement that all these things lead to inflammation. Does anyone know how or why physiologically?” “The toxins that are body is introduced to on a daily basis create free radicals and oxidative stress which results in inflammation. Chronic inflammation is becoming known as the “silent killer” or the “silent epidemic”. It is linked with most all disease states. The body defends against free radicals by its antioxidant network.” “How can we effect the toxic assault on the body. We have one Education, but education of what?” Any one have a clue? Here is a hint: “Antioxidants battle chronic inflammation.” Still got nothing? What about Nutrition? For all intents and purposes this is the only way we have to battle chronic inflammation and it is something that has been missing from my practice. There’s a key problem with nutrition. People turn a blind eye and deaf ear to it. We all know that most of America is overweight, but nobody is willing to listen let alone act on it. It takes 8-12 serving of fruits and vegetables per DAY to get to the level of antioxidants that the body needs to defend against toxic overload. image Who is going to be willing to do that in our society. There are too many factors working against it. TIME – best way to get that many Fruits and vegetables is to juice and to do that the best time is first thing in the am. Now you have to get up a half hour earlier. Cost – has to be organic. Industrial fruits and vegetables are not only devoid of antioxidants, but are laden with chemicals that will increase the toxic load. Lifestyle - lifestyle changes are arguably the hardest habit change for a human to make. Palate changes. Let me try to pry you away from your salty, sweet and bitter obsessions. Retraining movement habits is one thing, but retraining taste is another. It is something that brings people so much comfort and pleasure. GOOD LUCK! We are going to take a functional medicine approach to this problem. AID Performance Physical Therapy, LLC is a multi-disciplinary clinic that utilizes sports science integrating Medical, Physical Therapy, Nutrition, Massage Therapy, and Bio-mechanical analysis to efficiently diagnose and rehabilitate our athletes/clients. Our diversity within our providers allows us to treat our clients with a multitude of advanced manual therapies, corrective exercise strategies, instrument assisted soft-tissue manipulation, active release technique, therapeutic cupping,dry needling, joint mobilizations and much more.

This program is considered an integral part of the AID Performance Physical Therapy and Wellness Center and provides students with an opportunity to develop a core of knowledge and related skills to prepare them for professional work in the field. The knowledge acquired is complemented by the requirements that interns meet specific prerequisite University courses. The internship provides an opportunity to transfer and apply the knowledge acquired in the University setting to the practical application in a medical office. We believe this is the best way to learn how to serve as a health professional. Under the guidance and supervision of experienced professionals, the intern will practice skills, apply knowledge, and test theories and concepts.

The internship thus allows for exponential professional growth, assisting in the identification of personal strengths and weaknesses, applying learned theory to practical situation, and the appreciation of the role, duties, and responsibilities of the work that has been chosen as a career. Note that this is an unpaid internship position.

1. Stack books or boxes to support your feet to prevent back pain ☑️
2. Aim for 90 degree angles at your knees ☑️

Don't have a standing desk? Try this simple DIY standing desk at home today to help prevent the aches and pains of working from home.

1. Stack shoe boxes on your kitchen counter to reach a comfortable height
2. Stand in rubber soled shoes or on a standing mat to relieve pressure on your feet
3. Place a book or box on the ground to put your feet up on to relieve pressure on your low back

[03/15/20]   We recognize that the COVID-19 virus has required all of us to be more mindful as we go through our regular activities. Daily, our staff is working to ensure that we meet the latest guidance from the CDC and WHO on hygiene and cleaning. AID Performance Physical Therapy Clinic's health and safety measures are designed to address a broad spectrum of viruses, including COVID-19, and cover everything from hand-washing hygiene and cleaning all tables, surfaces, exercise equipment and reception area cleaning procedures. We have doubled our cleaning efforts and wiping down the clinic daily as well as after any item in the clinic that has been used like we always do.
Our building is also taking all of the necessary precautions and extra effort to keep the common areas clean and disinfected.
We ask that when you come for your therapy appointments that you use the provided hand sanitizer before and after your treatment sessions. We have a sink in the clinic that is available for you to wash your hands if you would like to do use this as well.
Any of our staff who feel that they may be getting sick have been sent home and we ask that if you feel that you are getting sick to call and reschedule your appointments when you are feeling better.
