Meet Annie đ âIâm a Georgia-native and mom to a 5 and almost 7-year old. I run a lot, which I almost always enjoy and recently started taking formal art lessons to try my hand at drawing and painting! If Iâm not at work, youâll find me around town with my kids or running around the RAD with my dog Murphy.
I started having interest in learning more about pelvic health PT while working in a rural area that was generally underserved in terms of âspecialistsâ. I felt drawn to give my patients the help they needed, so I started to answer questions for myself. I pursued PF course work over the next couple of years, while also pursing my Specialty Certification in Orthopedic PT and slowly built my practice into what it is now. đŞ
I love being able to draw from both specialties to provide holistic care to my patients. Understanding breathing mechanics, pelvic stability and abdominal manual therapy techniques really help me cover all of the bases with my ortho patients, while understanding hip pathology, lumbar spine dysfunction and even foot and ankle stability can really help fill any gaps in my pelvic health patientâs rehab as well. đ
I think the combination of these two specialties really shines when caring for pregnant and postpartum folks. We can really help keep moms comfortable throughout their pregnancy, while preparing them for delivery and the road to recovery after childbirth, whether thatâs running a marathon, getting PRs at the CrossFit gym or just taking care of themselves with a new baby at home! â¨
More than anything, people deserve to live comfortably, without taboo/social stigma around pelvic health, bathroom talk and s*x limiting their day-to-day well being! Whether itâs with me, or one of the other talented PTs weâre lucky to have in the area, I want to help people find out how important pelvic health really is for EVERYONE!â
