The beginning...
My name is Rachel Lane. I grew up in North Florida, graduated with a B.A. in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Florida, and graduated with a M.S. + 30 in Speech Language Pathology at Gallaudet in Washington D.C. I have been a practicing SLP for the past 10 years, in Maryland. I am a Mom of 3 and I love working with children and their families.
My family and I have recently relocated to Evans, GA to be closer to our family, and I was shocked to learn that there were no private Speech Therapy companies that offered in-home services here. In Maryland, I worked with the Public School system, servicing infants and toddlers in their homes in Baltimore city and Baltimore county, for 4 years. After that, I grew tired of the commute to Baltimore and I moved to a private company, closer to home, that serviced a wider variety of needs and ages. Because the company was not a federally funded program, we were able to provide services for kids who did not meet the federal cutoffs for SLP services through the county, but who still needed/benefited from SLP services. I believe Evans can benefit from the kinds of services that I provided in Maryland and I have decided to start my own practice, for that purpose.
My goal for Peachy Speech and Language Therapy, here in Evans, is to work with families who may not qualify for Babies Can’t Wait, have aged out of Babies Can’t Wait, or families who do qualify, but want more intense or more frequent services than the state can offer. Our therapist will initially come to your home, or your child’s daycare center, and complete an evaluation to assess your his/her current levels. From there, an individualized treatment plan will be created to meet your child’s specific needs, based on the results of the evaluation. Our goal is to provide Speech and Language intervention in the child’s most natural environment, during the school day, to increase the likelihood of successfully meeting their goals. We’ve found that we have significantly fewer cancellations and “no-shows” when we provide services in a client’s home/natural environment. This is important because research shows that children need consistency in their therapy services for successful mastery of therapy goals. We will work closely with you and your child(ren) to create speech and language goals to meet your child’s communication needs and those goals will be monitored and adjusted accordingly throughout the course of therapy.
If you are interested in learning more about our services and receiving an evaluation for your child, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I will be happy to answer any questions and set up an initial evaluation. We look forward to working with you and your family.
